This company had been formed at the height of flying business competition. It had therefore to come up with measures that will make the company break even in the first place and also stay afloat so that it does not close down. With various draft measures, it was able to break even in a record two years.
On the question whether I would be happy working in such an organization, I would say yes. This is because it gave employees the challenge to do whatever they wished as long as is creative to make things work. The top talents would take up the challenge and do things at random that ended up promoting the company services and consequently its name. Therefore anybody who likes challenge and being would want to work for the Southwest Airlines.
On the question of how much structure I would need to be comfortable, there are many things that need to be put in place so that employees are in a position to work hard. Many people will not hard on their own, they need a policy or structure so that they are monitored keenly. Left on their own will leave the idle ones with nothing to do yet still drawing salaries from the progress of those who put in hard work. On the idea of the policy that employees come first, that is a very nice thing. This is because the employees will feel appreciated and will work with a lot of fun. It brings a lot of encouragement. With the employees encouraged, they will work hard to bring on board clients as they feel as though the company is theirs. They are ever jovial in their operations and this attracts many people to the company. Referrals will be made in the process and the company keeps on growing.
I will directly apply research to the group characteristics by finding out from the group members of the skills varieties. How the skill varieties would make the each group autonomous and significant to the company. I would also do a research on how each group can best bring the needed feedback.
