Speech: Follow Your Dream
Everyone at some point in their life has been told that going into the medical field is probably going to be the best career anyone could get. But the thing is, if you do not want to do it, do not do it! This not only goes for the medical field but other fields as well. Not all of us are made to be in specific areas of study, whether it is becoming a doctor or chemical engineer. It is all about knowing yourself and your limited and expectations. Do not waste your time and strive for something else that will interest you.
Follow your dreams, no matter what. Why? There is so much opposition that comes with pursuing what you want, and what you like, what if I’m bad at it? What if I have zero talent in that field or I don’t have the resources I need? I’m scared. Well, those are pretty reasonable opinions and thoughts. Following your dreams is pretty scary, especially if it’s unrealistic. Maybe you want to cure cancer, but you do horrible in science. Perhaps you want to be a writer, but you don’t excel in English and can’t even write a one-page essay without struggling. I’m sure every one of you has or has had a dream, which maybe is still sitting in the back of your mind. I can’t change your mind, I can’t make you want to follow your dreams, and I can’t change your life, that’s for God to do. But if I can stand here today and encourage, maybe inspire you to think over your actual goals and what you want out of life?
Do not waste your time studying in a field for the wrong reason or if you do not have the motivation or dedication to do it. It is not worth it. We are still young, so we still have time. Do something you love to do. Pursue your dreams. The main reason why we want careers is so we can have a good life, so why do something that will make you miserable. It contradicts what you want, so why do it? Reevaluate your life and see for yourself if you like what you study. Otherwise, keep dreaming.
