Story of An Hour review

In the article, “Story of An Hour,” Kate Chopin uses a bleed state of mind and wholehearted emotions to diversify and give an image of how Mrs. Mallard, who is old and has heart complications, is taking up the news she received about the death of her husband. Although marriages are supposed to bear love, the story reveals the irony in Mrs. Mallard and Brently Mallard’s intimacy.

The writer says, ‘in bearing the sad message,‘ Mrs. Mallard is yet to receive news of the demise of her husband, Brently Mallard, who succumbed to an accident. She is in the company of her sister and her husband’s friend, Richard, who, on the other side, fears to inform her of this significant loss that has occurred here. However, she seems worried, and only weeps once after receiving news of her husband’s demise.

She does not weep as other women do, it does not take her long to isolate herself from her husband’s friend and her sister, and she locks herself in a room. Makes sure ‘Facing the open window, a comfortable army chair’ the illustration of the writer on how she is griffin her husband is emotional; all this while, she does not weep.

At most, she is sad mourning quietly, trying to relent of her actual world. With what has occurred here, Kate Chopin says, she sees ‘patches of blue skies here and there through the clouds’ as she is sited net to her window, the cloud plays an essential role in explaining the sad situation that has befallen her. It’s more ironic that the story is talking of blue skies when most of the happenings often are associated with dark clouds. Her relationship with her husband, therefore, is seen as to be questionable.

Monstrous joy held her and yet her husband had died; like other women, she has mixed feelings on the occurrences, she feels free atlas, a more significant burden has lessened, but it’s just her taught, and now she has to mourn her husband. She feels victorious though she shows it with sad emotions. The writer describes her happy-sad feelings conclusively that as much as she was married to Mr. Mallard, their marriage was not a happy one

Conclusively, the writer is trying to bring up a picture of a woman who is satisfied after sudden death in an accident. The woman, however, does not show her happiness in front of her sister and her husband’s friend. To a certain point, she feels confused weather to celebrate or sob, but in her heart, she is happy that her long time worries have come to pass.
