Project requirement Student must prepare and investigative report on an incident involving Police corruption, excessive use of force, or a mass killing incident. Report must be a minimum of three typed pages using the simple APA style formatting (12pt Font, Times New Roman/Arial, and Double Spacing). You must include a cover page and reference page. For extra credit you can also create a PowerPoint presentation. Students will be required to present their report to the class on Tuesday March 31, 2020. The presentation must be no less than 7 minutes in length (5pt deduction for every minute its short). Writing your Investigation Report An investigation is a step-by-step method for determining facts about an issue or incident. To ensure that all facts, testimonials and evidence are collated to compile an analysis, I recommend you follow the following three essential steps. Start With What You Know The student should record the information about the subject (respondent or accused person) and the details of the complaint/incident. Take note of specific desсrіptions such as times, dates, and locations to further clarify the issues of the matter. Make Sense of What You Have Review available physical evidence such as footage, correspondence/email records, documents or papers, physical objects, etc. and document investigative interviews. These should then be analyzed to identify the relevant facts, assess the credibility of disputed facts, and dismiss irrelevant facts (determine what is true/not true). Formulate a Conclusion State the conclusion reached based on the facts and supporting evidence. At the end of the report, you should indicate whether the matter was preventable or what can be done to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
