Team Charter
Mission statement
This team exists to foster academic growth and success in this course. We wish to study together and master the course content while aiming for the best grades; that is an overall A Grade in this semester because it is achievable and attainable only if we focus and come together and study. We aim to achieve Grade(A=12.5%) in the first, second, third, and fourth exams as well as Grade(A=3.33%) in all the quizzes administered. We also aim towards a Grade(A=40%) on the project assignment and the wow grade of 5 points, which will enable us to have an overall course grade A of more than 90 points. Other than the academic objectives, we wish to improve our social skills by learning how to work with each other efficiently in pursuit of our goals.
All the team members have a common goal: To attain exemplary marks in the course. We also look forward to making reading fun and interactive. However, our social expectations differ slightly from each other. For instance, ________, who is usually very shy wants to gain confidence in speaking among people. ________ wishes to gain more insight on the course matter to be able to apply it in their current part-time job while ___________ wants to improve interpersonal skills. Boundaries
We expect that all team members attend all meetings and are punctual. Full participation is expected during meetings to optimize resources and brainstorming abilities. Courteous and respectful behavior towards one another is expected to facilitate easy communication.
We are aware that there could be several obstacles that could come in the way of successful group meetings. These include personal commitments, poor communication, and unresolved conflict between members. We plan to be proactive if we encounter such challenges and work together towards solving the problem at hand, amicably keeping in mind the shared goals that we all wish to attain in the end.
Operating guidelines: Team structure and processes
To effectively achieve our goals, we shall have the following organizational roles:( Additional roles can be added if necessary)
- Team leader- Guides the team by ensuring that assignments have been delegated appropriately and discussions are running smoothly. Also responsible for handling issues between members that cannot be solved privately.
- Subject champions- Their primary responsibility is guiding the rest of the team through the subject content.
- Timekeeper- keeps track of time allocated to each subject.
The work given will be divided into small manageable chunks and delegated to each member based on their strengths. It is the responsibility of the champions of each subject part to move the team in the right direction by carving out a roadmap.
There will be two main communication avenues: Phone communication (email, group chat, and phone calls) outside meetings and Physical meetings as per the timetable in the allocated avenues. Members are required to give prompt responses to phone conversations about inquiries made.
Every member is supposed to be either a champion or assistant champion of at least one subject that they feel comfortable with. It will enable each member to sharpen their communication skills as well as advance their knowledge in the topic chosen. It will also boost members’ confidence and esteem.
At the end of every week, members will sit down and evaluate progress in the various parts of the course. Also, we will review other aspects such as: how well we can work with each other, how far we have gone in covering content for the various subjects, and make suitable adjustments on areas to be worked on.
At the end of the semester, group members shall have a picnic to reward themselves for the hard work done, excluding the members who have violated the ground rules more than twice. The following consequences have been assigned to violation of the basic team rules:
- Incomplete work- no credit given on the assignment and group participation grade is reduced.
- No participation in the discussion- Member behavior shall be subjected to a re-evaluation by other members, and if no improvement is noted, removal from the group is an option.
- Lateness- First-time offenders will be let off with a warning, second-time offenders will be answerable to the group members, and third-time offenders will be asked to leave the group.
Team meetings will be held as per the team timetable in the allocated venues. During these meetings, members are expected to be punctual, to participate actively in the discussion by contributing meaningful information regarding the subject being discussed, and to be courteous and respectful to each other.
Assigned work should be handed in on time and should be complete. Members shall review the work together before handing in it to the course instructor.
