Technology denotes to the systems, methods, and the devices established through scientific knowledge, and are used for conducting various practical activities in the society. The exists a controversy on whether technology has brought more benefits or harms in society. Some of the research argues that technology is of great significance in the current society since it has helped to improve activities in the business and other fields in the community. For instance, it enhanced communication, accuracy, and assist in business performance. However, some researchers believe that technology is the root cause of various problems that are present in the current society, for instance, health problems such as obesity, skin diseases, violation of human rights, and the increase of immorality in the community. However, despite the harm brought by technology, I still believe that technology is a vital tool in the current society. Most of the corporates and large business depends on software and applications for communicating with its employees and other companies. Thus, this means that applications developed through technology enhance faster dissemination of information necessary to enhance the business performance (Hilbert, p.34). Communication tools such as wazzup, mails, and tweeter are also essential tools used by the stakeholders to pass the necessary information to the employee (Hilbert, p 42). Hence, information remains informed, well-coordinated, and up-to-date about the various activities undertaken in the organization (Chunhai, p.44). Thus, in turn, enhance the performance of the business, consequently, lead to a rise in the profit. Therefore the technology can be viewed as a vital tool necessary for improving the wellbeing of society.
Technology is of great importance in society since it enhances the economic growth of a country. Technology enhances the innovation of new techniques necessary to improve the productivity of various sectors in society, such as the agricultural sector (Kohut, p. 27). New production tools enhance the increase of productivity; this, in turn, raises the National Income of a country (Kohut, p.36). An increase in the National income leads to a rise in the per-capita income. Hence raise the standard of living of the people. Technology has also lead to the development of new branding techniques used by the processing companies (Kohut, p. 39). New branding techniques make the products more attractive, hence raises the selling rate of the products. Consequently, it leads to an increase in the money in circulation, thus raising the standard of living of the people in society. Therefore technology is an important tool in society since it helps raise the economic performance of the nation.
Technology is a vital tool since it enhances the academic performance amongst the students. The establishment of laptops, I-pads, and smartphones are an essential tool necessary to improve the students’ performance (Rashid, p. 608). The use of laptops in school enables students to have access to a huge source of information. Students are even able to research on their own regarding certain topics learned in the classroom (Rashid, p. 608). Hence, it facilitates their academic performance. Thus the technology can be seen to yield more benefits than harm.
In conclusion, despite the technology being associated with some negative impact in the society, its benefits outweigh the harm that it causes. The technology yields more benefits than harm in society; for instance, it facilitates communication in society and amongst the big corporations. Proper communication tools generated by technology enhances business performance. Technology also enhances the economic growth of a country, hence helps raise the standard of living of the people living in society. Finally, the use of technology yields positive impacts on the academic sector; it helps improve the students’ performance in the school. Thus despite the drawbacks associated with technology, its benefits outweigh its disadvantages.
