The Ancient Government Systems
Over the years, the forms of government have changed. Examples of these early forms of government are the Assyrian, Greece, and Macedonian, which were among the most common, before the European civilization. The formation of forms of leadership was influenced by the need of the people for peace and the development of civilization. Some governments were very organized compared to others, and they became powerful to the point of subduing the weaker States. In this essay, we will look at the most developed systems of government before the modern transition.
Sumer was among the earliest documented system of government. It was independent and based on a hegemonic institution. According to Watson, “This is the earliest point at which the archaeological written record enables us to discern…” (21).It was followed up by the Assyrian system, which had inherited a lot of concepts from Sumer. The main difference is that it was imperially organized. Greece followed up, and it was more used in the city-states. Greek and the Persian systems of government joined to form the Macedonian system and borrowed a lot from the early form of government predecessors. It was later on succeeded by the Roman system that developed to Byzantine and the Arab government system. The continuous succession led to the continuity of some challenges from the earlier forms of government such as incorrect cultures
Each of the different governments had their own economic activities. Sumerians were more involved in agricultural commerce. They were peaceful in their activities and believed that their gods provide them with the land and water. Asia, India, and Europe had different forms of government. The art of writing had been invented after the development of the Sumer system of government. As the government systems continued developing, trade, accounting, and civilization developed.
