Abstract

Movie production have really evolved today with so much research put into the story line before even the actual production kicks off. And researcher in the film industry has acknowledged the potential this industry holds in producing some of the best ever scripted movies. In addition, the success of any film depends on two very important sectors and that is the production team and the marketing team. Each sector in the film industry holds the future of that particular film in regards to how well the market will react to the film. One of these films is the avengers the Endgame that has received global recognition for been one of the outstanding films ever produced by the marvel studios. The production of the avengers’ endgame happened at the same time production of the avengers’ infinity war took place and for one to coherently understand the production of the avengers Endgame since the two are interlinked.

Introduction

Before the production and release of avengers: infinity war part two which later changed its name to avengers Endgame, it was thought that the avengers’ infinity war would be the culmination of the story line of the avengers. But it just happened that Thanos influenced could not be ended in the infinity war leading to the birth of avengers’ endgame. In addition, the brining together of all the MCU heroes just reaffirmed the ideology of existence of interconnection in the universe. Hence the inception of avengers Endgame production began in the retreat of creative marvel studios as reiterated by the Kevin Feige who is the main producer of the film. Immediately after the retreat marvel studio announced the release dates of avengers: infinity war part one to be 4th May 2018 which would later be followed closely the release of the avengers infinity war part two on 3rd of May 2019.

During the same period Whedon was preoccupied with the completion of the avengers the age of ultron that would later turn out to be that both Marvel and Whedon disagreed on a number of issues relating on how the production of the avengers would go. This slight disagreement saw Whedon decline to take part in the production of the part II of the avengers as rumored since he was the architect behind the previous movies of avengers. Although after marvel studios took over the production of avengers endgame, Whedon admitted been responsible for introducing Thanos in the avengers story line but didn’t know exactly what role he would play in the final movie of the avengers.

However, marvel still required outstanding skills of an individual who would spearhead the production the infinity war part one and two. And in mid-April 2015 when the filming of captain America the civil war was about to go down, marvel brought in Russo and Joe to shepherd production of part 1 and 2 of avengers. It wasn’t long before Russo and marvel developed a good working relationship that led to Russo’s brothers Markus and McFeely brought in and tasked with delivering on the scripting part two of the epic infinity war. However, marvel quickly changed their mind on making infinity war have two parts but rather make the two movies very distinct and it is at this point that part two of avengers was renamed the avengers Endgame.

Moreover, Russo’s brothers tried to explore the comics of Thanos obsession with death however they found addition of any character in the movie as they had thought of bringing lady death would just make the movie overcrowded with characters. And this scenario lead to adoption of thematic approach in the script of the movie by bringing in the Mad Titan motivation angle of the movie. And this is what made a change in the twist by allowing Thanos the bad guy to win and this was strategically done to change the people’s perception on the movies predictability. Also making chuck Zlotnick playing the character of T’Challa to die from Thanos wrath though painful was a tactful move to allow all the heroes of avengers proceed to Endgame where they will be facing against the mighty Thanos. The ending of the avengers’ part 1 left many people clueless on how the second part of movie that is avengers the Endgame would turn out and that’s the suspense McFeely and Markus wanted to create. The scripting team and also the film making team spent a great deal of time thinking how Thanos was going to fit in the avengers Endgame where Tran the executive producer suggested he be Killed. Additionally the incorporation of time travel technique where revisiting the previous MCU movies would help in cracking how to defeat Thanos was conceived. And at this point is where Ant Man together with the wasp got introduced and they were to help in making Endgame a celebratory movie of all the past avengers films. Towards the end of the avengers Endgame the death of Tony Starks’s was to be a selfless one changing the previous perception of him been self-centered. Also the flow sequences had put into consideration that Johansson would lead her own film of the black widow. And in conclusion the avengers’ endgame would bring into a stop some of the three prolific characters who have instrumental in the avengers’ series.

Just after one week of the release of the avengers Endgame box office reported US$1.27 billion dollars which is the highest in history. And this figure nearly doubled the record of avengers’ infinity war that stood at around US$645 million dollars. In addition, the end of sunny weather in UK and other parts of the globe that in the past had proven to be a nightmare for box office propelled the record opening of the avenger Endgame. Although many argued that Endgame will break the box office records and mean bad for business other tend to disagree. Since the flexibility in the box office plans for exhibition and distribution seemed to be the key success factor in robot sales made by the film. In total the avengers the Endgame collected a total of US$4.795 billion dollars.

In summary the production research of the avengers the Endgame was one of the most epic in the history of the avengers’ films. Moreover, the endgame had more in common with the avengers’ infinity war that was produced back-to- back with the Endgame film. Also the twist seen in towards the end of the avenger infinity war gave the avengers Endgame the much need thrust to command once the suspense of the viewers. The film bringing to an end the avengers storyline of three great characters that is Thor, Tony Stark and captain America remains one of the best ever scripted films. Also the distribution and exhibition of the film making a record sales of US$1.27 billion dollars just one week after the release of the movie also indicates the uniqueness put in the production, distribution and exhibition of the film.
