The Best Free Agent Quarterbacks Currently Available in the NFL
Many teams are reviewing this season’s rosters as the draft approaches. However, with 32 teams and just 10 top tier picks, finding a quarterback is not as easy as it sounds. These teams would also have to groom their rookie quarterback to ensure he’s able to match the team’s pace and formations.
The free-agent market is the next best thing. For one, such players already possess experience from playing in the league. They also used pressure and can deliver consistently. With Tom Brady off the market here are a few prospective free-agent quarterbacks:
Dak Prescott
At 26, Prescott is the youngest player on this list. He’s here because the Cowboys haven’t gotten around to making his deal more lucrative. The best they could do was $720,000 in the final year of his contract. This is despite Prescott’s incredible season. The quarterback’s passes covered 4,902 yards resulting in 30 touchdowns. So, any team that can present a lucrative offer is bound to snag him.
Drew Brees
In contrast, Brees is the oldest quarterback on this list. But, at 41, any team can bank on his two decades of experience. He came from a five-game absence due to a thumb injury to post one of the most effective comebacks of the season. He’s also in fantastic shape and shows excellent leadership skills in the gridiron. However, It’s hard imagining the Saints letting him go since they have such a glorious history together.
Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy stepped up for the saints in the absence of Brees. He had a great season setting records with his 99.3-passing rate taking the Saints on a 5-0 run. Teddy is very passionate about the game. The man came back to the NFL three years ago after sustaining a career-ending knee injury. We’ll soon see which teams sign him up. Winston and Tampa Bay look keen to sign a player such as Bridgewater.
