The Classic Car Case
The world we are currently living in has been graced by a lot of complexity in organizations and new businesses everywhere. This is, therefore, a calling to effective leadership. Without effective leadership, it would be hard to run any organization, let alone make it profitable. This has also been faced by a lot of leadership issues that need to be addressed. To address this issue, leadership skills are necessary. A leader in every organisation is required to think, contemplate, and decide on the way forward when it comes to the organization.
Leadership has been accompanied by a lot of theories that revolved around it (Dhindsa, 2019). For example, the classic car case. When looking forward to buying this car, the buyer has made sure to involve as many people as he could to help in decision making. The last decision, however, stands with him to make. The accountant, lawyer, and his partner all have different solutions to the issue. He is therefore faced with the first challenge on which decision to make based on whose arguments. Ethically, this person is supposed to sit down with the seller and discuss with him the issue of undervaluing the car. This would be accepted as per all the models and leadership frameworks. After using the car for several years, the person feels it is now time to resell the car. To start with, this car has been was beaten by the current car models. It is still new, and its performance still the same.
The selling price is another challenge that this person faces. Following the leadership and business frameworks, one should not lie when it comes to business. Therefore the seller should describe to the buyer all the maintenance services that the car requires. This will ensure that you do not have any problems with the buyer later on after noticing that it requires a lot of maintenance. This would be following the intelligence and authenticity model. The truth will always set you free. In business, it is always wise to go with the highest bidder; even though, at times, circumstances may change (James, 2011). In this case, the seller has to evaluate and range both buyers and go for that which will provide the highest amount for the car. Following the accountant’s advice might cost you a lot, this is because you might decide to go for the highest bidder then end up losing all of the buyers. The lawyer’s comment and pricing are reasonable, as it will give the buyer enough cash to do all the maintenance repairs. The seller and buyer can also come into harmony with a new price, whereby the buyer will be required to take care of all the maintenance costs before selling it. With this, they would both come up with something reasonable and equal to both. Making the best decision they see best for them will reflect on ethical decision making, integrity, and authenticity. Conclusion
Leadership matters most in every organization. The people in leadership will be responsible for any failures or successes. This is because they have been given the mandate to oversee operations in the company. Therefore, leaders are required to be at their best behavior when it comes to leadership, bearing in mind that being ethical and understanding the various theories revolving under the leadership tool will be of much help.
