The essence of my education
The essence of my education in the fascinating field of Psychology is to learn and apply in practice the theories and driving forces that shape human behaviour, thoughts and emotions. The sphere of Psychology and research has always evoked my curiosity and given rise to a deep desire to pursue a career as a Psychologist. I believe that pursuing further education in Psychology will allow me to fulfil my desire to be of service to others. The study of Psychology in my high school has enabled me to understand the scientific causes behind human behavior and thought. My studies of sociology and law has helped me realize the interconnectedness of society and psychological processes that shape it. I actively implement the theoretical side of psychology, in real life by using psychological methods as a tool to become a better human being. By using scientific methods, Psychologists are able to find answers to questions about human beings that are far more legitimate than those resulting from mere speculations after assessing their validity, reliability, objectivity and predictability, and that it caters to the norms. But for me psychology is more than the mere understanding of a stimulus-response relationship. It is an art of understanding the intricacies of human behavior and its effects. It is gaining an insight into the human mind which is constantly evolving and adapting. It is a field which has so much to offer in the fast-paced world, where the psychological wellbeing of people is a prerequisite for progress. The application of scientific methods alongside Psychology has allowed me to perceive Psychology as a science which is driven by statistics and extensive research, and not as a subject backed by false notions. I have chosen to spend my time reading about psychology and my favorite theorists like Bandura and Freud as well as understanding the variety of psychological disorders through movies and autobiographies. I have also done an extensive case study for my school on the topic complex PTSD, which documents the harrowing effects of sexual violence on a person. I took part in an Inter-School Psychology Quiz. During the summer break, I took an Internship at a hospital that treats psychological disorders and drug addiction.
