In the wake of the growing need to showcase the Chinese diversity in the field of fashion, I engaged one fashion show event dedicated to celebrating the vibrant Chinese fashion in general. The indoor event took place in Vancouver, a place that is dominantly inhabited by individuals from Asian descent, especially the Chinese. To align with the modern requirements in event programming, the event planners blended new aspects of design with those that celebrate the history of the Chinese people. The walkway was relatively illuminated as it was also designed in a manner that the audience from both sides could have a view of the participants, a typical to the majority of the western events.

The Primary Programming Elements

There were several primary programming elements in the Chinese fashion show. However, the essential core elements that typified the event was showcasing the fashion of in the Chinese and embracing diversity. Even though the fashion show was dominantly classified as a Chinese event, it brought people from all walks of life in Canada. From the expert perspective, the programming was scheduled to take into account all the distinctive features of fashion in a celebratory manner. The main concern of such a program was to allow people from different walks of life to showcase their societal and cultural prescriptions of fashion and subsequently create a room for individuals to celebrate such diversities. The participants were made to go through rounds of marches on the walkways as the judges and the audiences marvel at the uniqueness of different fashions. The programming was appropriate for the event since it factors in various aspects of style and diversity that the event was majorly premised. By allowing people to freely showcase their diverse cultural and societal issues concerning their fashion, the events superseded the expectations as they did not erect parameters nor yardsticks that dictates what an excellent presentation entails.

Again, from my observation, the audience seemed to have approved the programming in place. First, the sitting arrangements favored all as that walkway was perfectly illuminated for sufficient lighting of the performers. The members of the audience who sat behind could also have a glimpse clearly without getting blocked by those close to the walkways. The fact that the participants were allowed to showcase their cultural and social aspects of fashion freely was an instrumental undertaking in achieving the primary goal of embracing fashion and diversity. However, such events could be improved by making it relatively competitive and introducing the religious aspects of fashion.

From the marketing perspective, the event aligned with the much-hyped advertisement that described the event as one of the unique shows that celebrate diversity and fashion. The programming allowed people from all walks lives to participate and also prioritized fashion over other aspects. Such development proved effective, but improvements could be made through engaging more stakeholders to give it the much need a broader scope.

Secondary Programming Elements

Several activities preceded the primary elements of the events. Such secondary programming elements entailed performance from various artists and celebrity appearances on the stage. The performance portrayed different cultural affiliations, as the participants were people from different cultural backgrounds. The musical performance aroused the mood pending the subsequent fashion show, and the performance proved vital in offering an insight into how culture and social aspects influence fashion. Thus, the incorporation of the musical performances was appropriate for the event as it gave them a much-needed identity for promoting diversity through fashion.

Again, the audience observation epitomized an approval to a great extent. In most instances, the audience who were well conversant with the songs sang along or engaged in various forms of dances. Seemingly, the programming perfectly aligned to their expectations as they were visible entertained and got immersed in the performances. However, improvements could be made on ensuring that the programming factor in such performances at the intervals of the show and not scheduling all the performance at the initial stages of the event. Again, from the marketing perspective, musical performance remained a core element in giving the event the attention needed in various ways.

Sponsor-Driven Programming Elements

For the event to register success, the organizers of the event took into account the role of the sponsors by scheduling multiple programs that are meant to popularize them in the eyes of the wider audience who followed the show. However, the sponsor-driven program manifested only through the digital exhibition of various products related to the sponsors. Though the exhibition process was prioritized at the initial stages of the event, it did not resonate well with most of the audiences when it sneaked in the middle of the fashion show. Therefore, such practice neutralized the effectiveness of the impression that it created among the audience at the initial stages. From the marketing perspective, the sponsor-driven program exploited the existing niche at the initial stages when the audience had settled. However, such initiatives could be made relatively good if they were blended with the main event. In that regard, the corporates could have creatively used the materials to reflect the prevailing themes.
