THE FOREST OGRE

Adventures of Bosco & Tina

Bosco loved reading outside for he adored the scent of nature. Tina, however, did not have a passion for reading. On this day, she was busy packing some items and prepared to go for an adventure. She was stunned when Bosco suggested they should go for an adventure in the forest since he was the quiet and reserved one.

Bosco, “have you packed the food I told you to thirty minutes ago?” asked Tina.

“You never told me to do that,” Bosco replied defensively.

Bosco requested Tina to help him put the food and drinks. Tina accepted half-heartedly. Once done, they set off for their adventure. On the way, they talked about what fun activities they would do. Time was not on their side since they only had about four hours to explore.

When they arrived, they were surprised to see many tall green trees. They dropped white shinning stones that they had carried to find their way back home. After walking for some time, they felt hungry and decided to eat some fruits they had brought from home.

Bosco and Tina ate to their fill and continued with their journey. They came to a halt when they found a place that was perfect for relaxing for the meantime. Tina wanted to play a standard game. She suggested hide and seek, to which Bosco too. Tina hid, and Bosco had to look for her. Tina was good at hiding while Bosco was no good at seeking. When he started to searching for Tina, he saw a small bush moving closer and closer.

Bosco hid behind a tree and applied mud on his face. He then remembered he had carried a pen by accident and used it to draw a fake eye between his real eyes. He wanted to go near the once moving bush when suddenly; he felt a hand touch him.

He then looked behind and almost screamed as he saw it was Tina. Tina shouted, got you! Tina laughed so hard after seeing Bosco’s scared face.

Since they were starving, they unpacked their delicious lunch that consisted of rice and chicken. They ate to their satisfaction and agreed to rest for a while, and it wasn’t long before they both drifted her to sleep.

They must have slept for long since when Bosco jolted from his deep sleep, it was already evening. He woke Tina up who also seemed equally surprised that evening had befallen. They decided to head home when there was still light for them to see.

As they were getting on their toes, they heard a roar. They thought it must be a lion. Bosco’s heart pulsated at a rate that threatened to burst his rib cage open. Tina, however, was courageous and was ready to face the beast which was not yet in sight. Bosco decided to put the adage, ’Better safe than sorry’ into use by climbing up a tall tree that was nearby.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them started to shake.

It shook so hard that Tina fell, while Bosco, who was on a tree, grabbed a sturdy branch to prevent him from falling. While Tina was rose from her fall, she heard a loud shriek from Bosco that echoed throughout the jungle. She looked up and saw a creature that she had never seen.

The creature had bloody eyes that seemed to pop out of their eye socket, with two large canines protruding out of its oversized jaws. Its body was covered with cuts and scars, each scar telling a story of its ruthless past. It was armed with a large log with spikes on either side.

Bosco made sure not to make a sound that would alert the ogre of his presence. In a dint of a second, the creature picked up Tina and dragged her towards its cave. Bosco got down from the tree and started throwing stones at the ogre in an attempt to save Tina, but his efforts proved futile. The ogre was very irritated, and without batting an eyelid, he grabbed Bosco and dragged them both towards his cave.

The ogre took a left turn and came at a standstill in front of a hideous cave, which was partly covered by big pieces of leaves from trees and a couple of strong branches. They got in the cave through a small opening that was hardly visible. It tied them up with ropes to prevent them from escaping. The ogre went in search of food and left them in the cave. Bosco and Tina were very scared as they could see a pile of bones at the other end of the cave.

They tried to free themselves from the ropes, but it only made the ropes tighter. After some few minutes, the ogre came back with game meat, which it roasted and

gave them to eat. Bosco and Tina knew that the ogre was giving them a lot of meat as to fatten them in readiness of him feasting on them.

Bosco and Tina were knowledgeable, and they agreed to dig a hole and hide the meat.

Many days passed, and the ogre noticed that they were not getting fat as he had planned. The ogre then hatched a plan to eat them the way they were. After it went in search of firewood to cook them, Bosco managed to untie himself, together with Tina.

They managed to locate the entrance of the cave and bolted out of like a bat out of hell. After running for some time, they came across a line of stones. They remembered these as the stones they had dropped, to serve as markers while entering the forest.

They followed the stones, and suddenly a figure caught there shifty eyes.

It was a house set upon a hill with a brown chimney that they instantly recognized as their house.

Both of them could not contain their happiness as they ran towards the house. Tina reached first and knocked on the door to their home. Bosco arrived shortly after and they both stood waiting for the door to be opened.

Moments later, their parents opened and cuddle- hugged them as gurgles of delight burst within them. They got into the house and couldn’t help noticing the few changes.

They all sat down and shared their scary experience in the forest with their parents and promised each other never to set foot in the forest again.

Bosco and Tina looked at each other, knowing that indeed, it was quite an adventure.
