The Garden of Earthly Delights vs. the Jungle

The Garden of Earthly Delights is a triptych oil painting representing a translucent sphere lie earth. It has a scene that a monochromatic shade worldly fresh indulgence of world creation. The Garden has three parts of the central panel with hinged wings on either side whereby the primary group has intricacy symbols which hordes of men and women cavorting in landscape manna which evocates a last sexual joy (Belting, n.p). Both Lam and Bosch employed symbolic elements in their work. What role do you think symbols can play in helping to visualize imaginative worlds?

Both Garden of Earthly delights and the Juggle has used symbolic imaginations in their work. The Garden of Earthly Delights provides a visual representation of fear that governs life in the middle age man’s weakness to resist sinful physical temptation. Then, Lam has conveyed the haunting consequences of slavery and colonialism in his native nation with crescent-shaped faces termed the Africans and Pacific Islanders slaves. At the same time, the sugarcane stalks represented Cuba since that was their most significant exports. Lam wanted to disturb the dream of the exploiters and colonialists who were in the country since colonization brought many slaves to work in their countries plantation. Ideally, both Earthly Delights and the Jungle had some ideal information using various elements of representation in their artwork, which has spread its ideologies of the imaginative world.

Both Posada and Filomeno present their skeletons with a degree of playfulness. To what extent are their goals in doing so the same or different?

The idea and the purpose of skeleton figures in both Posada’s work and Filomeno’s work had different goals and intentions. In Calavera, Posada worked to produce art that featured a skeleton figure to bring out an intentional laugh at the death itself since it brings about a defusing force in that everyone is alike at the end. Contrary, Filomeno used the skeleton symbols to offer a splendour vision of death that compensates the proximity of death while bringing about the pain of loss and personal memories of human experience.
