The German law enforcement strategy to counter the Black September Palestinian terrorists
The German law enforcement strategy to counter the Black September Palestinian terrorists was poor, not premeditated, and that of a rookie’s standard. The worst decision one would make on a battlefield is recklessly fighting an enemy during an ambush, adding insult to injury, not taking precaution after multiple terror warnings by several diverse sources. It is also unwise of the government of Germany to entrust security matters of an international even to a city police department that cannot match up terrorist combat. The involvement of the armed forces of Germany was vital since these have been trained better and are more skillful. The Olympics committee is also at fault for entrusting a state with security without verifying the security plan and ability of the country.
Protecting and serving people is the primary purpose of these defense institutions; the army and police force are institutions that are dedicated not to leisure but the sacrifice to lay down their lives on behalf of the citizens. Therefore, no balance struggle should occur between protecting participants and fans of a sporting event and enjoying the event. A state and the stakeholders of the sport should ensure maximum security and surveillance, making sure every nook and cranny is covered, top-notch security personnel and equipping and strict security directives to the citizens and international guests during this event.
Dealing with international events means dealing with different ethnic groups, thus welcoming all ethnicity issues such as tribalism and racism in one venue. For example, the assumption that all Muslim or Middle Eastern Asians are involved in terrorism may cause biasness in dealing with them. The Olympics should partner with the host country’s humanitarian government and non-government organizations to promote oneness, love, and unity during the sports period and afterward. Also, with adequate security, the law enforcement institutions involved should be commended to treat all people equally, with disguised kindness and carefulness as their priority.
