The journal article “RLGN 1324 Study Notes”
The journal article “RLGN 1324 Study Notes” explains the major concepts that are found in various religious traditions. It discusses the practices and rituals that are important in most religious traditions, such as leisure, burial rites, and death. According to the article, religion grew from communal and personal human experiences, and it has emotional and intellectual dimensions. It is difficult to define religion because it changes with time and experience. Religion is viewed from a personal or social communal experience, and it does not qualify to be a norm. However, religion is human in nature, and it is embedded deep in human history. The article also identifies significant developments in religion, as indicated in our coursebook.
My major interest in the journal is the aspect of Islam and how it relates to leisure. According to the journal, the Quran is the last revelation of humanity, and it encourages leisure and service to humanity. Muhammad’s teachings also encourage people to help the less fortunate as part of the leisure and social activities, and this is the central pillar of Islam teachings. Islam treats religion as a social and legal institution that encourages good social relationships amongst ourselves and promotes moral relations with other persons. Islam, as a religion, has teachings that guide Islam’s leisure behavior. Apart from Islam religion trying to endow traditions with sacredness and stabilizing social order, it also views leisure as a vehicle of human expression. Even though Islam religion is strict in maintaining sex segregation, it has never discouraged leisure activities. That is why Islam nations have more leisure activities than Christian countries.
1 my philosophy about leisure is a contemporary one, which suggests that leisure is a critical part of everyone’s life. Leisure can take many forms depending on personal tastes and preferences, as well as the surrounding circumstances. I believe people should explore leisure independently, but it should primarily induce self-happiness and allow a person to enjoy his or her presence. Leisure is an escape from the harsh realities of life since it creates an opportunity to stay away from normal life routines. Leisure fits in my life perfectly because it comes in during my free time. It, therefore, does not disrupt my fundamental daily routines. I believe that my philosophy aligns with societal norms and Islam culture.
2, in my opinion, leisure is a golden opportunity set aside for enjoyment and self-happiness. The primary role of leisure is to gain happiness without offending anyone. Also, leisure should not go against positive societal norms. Recreation, on the other hand, is a component of leisure. Recreational activities are those activities done for enjoyment or pleasure when a person is not working or studying. My definitions align with those in the text.
