The legend of the developer Bob – A man from the US who outsourced his job
Caption- Do you secretly dream of outsourcing your job? Or have you ever secretly “outsourced” your job? What happened next?

Slug – Developer Bob
Introduction: Have you ever thought of becoming a top-rated performer? If yes, what did you do to achieve it? Your expected reply is – ‘I worked hard.’ But someone turned into top-rated performer just by watching cat videos. Before you scoff my intellect, let me tell you the legend of bob, the software developer from the US.
The entire bob’s episode
Bob was the top coder of one of the firms in the US, and he was also well regarded as an expert in C++, C, Pearl, Kava, Ruby, PHP, and Python. But his work schedule was not anything you can imagine. Here’s how his work schedule looked like: Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
9:00 am – sharp arrival time at the office.
9:00 am to 11:30 am – Net surfing & watching cat videos
11:30 am – Lunch
1:00 pm – E-bay/amazon time
2:00 pm – Social media time
4:30 pm –Update email to management
5:00 pm – Pack up
But how did he manage all this? Well, he was a genius who outsourced his work to a firm in Shenyang, China. What more? He was earning $250,000 for surfing net and youtube and his favorite cat videos, and he was merely paying that Chinese firm $50000. Bob must have taken peters and Drucker’s preaching’s “do what you do best & outsource rest” very seriously. But as every good thing come to an end, so did genius Bob’s outsourcing business. Someone noticed suspicious activities of the virtual private login (VPN) of the company. VPN was provided to the employees for allowing them to work from home at times. As soon as the employer heard about it, he asked Verizon Enterprise Solution to send a team of misconduct investigators’ and review “anomalous activity” in VPN. It is a company that provides integrated business solutions. In its report, Verizon stated that an unknown user from Shenyang, China was login in at the company’s VPN and doing Bob’s work. Bob shipped the RSA security token that was required for authentication to Chinese developers so they could log in to his account. Bob was not just working for one company; he even took jobs from other firms and outsourced them to china too. This episode kept going for months until he was exposed, so he was an outsourcing genius.
What was the loophole that exposed bob?
His plan crashed because he missed a straightforward trick. He did not set up the proxy server at his home.
What was he for you – An unsung hero or a couch potato?
You, as readers, have to make your judgment call. For me, I would say he misunderstood the phrase do what you do best & outsource rest, and he was nothing but a lazy couch potato, and for the company, he was unethical and was sacked for ‘breach of security.’ So, bye-bye bob, but if you enjoyed reading the article, don’t leave unless you click subscribe and like button.
