The ModMeters case study
Develop an IT planning process for ModMeters to Accomplish the demands as set out above.
Overview of the plan
The plan will begin by first establishing the needs of the IT and the organization at large. Ted should come up with a plan that will allow the firm to be a step ahead of others in the industry (pp. 84). Stan has the responsibility to make specific regulatory requirements have been met in full. The last goal will involve the expansion of the company globally (PP. 82).
ModMeter’s long term vision
This is a critical step that will be defined by short term steps and goals. As asserted by Brian (PP. 38-85), the plan requires careful steps that will allow the CEO’s objective to grow the company activities globally. Short term goals are replacement and restructuring of the system infrastructure to enable the long-term goals attainment.
Define gaps present in the IT process
As seen through Brian’s explanation, the company system is old and outdated and thus cannot fulfill the incoming roles (pp. 84-85). The shortcomings should be met by using a different strategy rather than basing on the regularly used ROI strategy.
Schedule and budget
The timeframe for the plan will be one month. The budget will include the replacement and upgrade of current systems and incorporate everybody’s needs (Pp. 85).
Strategy implementation
The process will include integration and upgrade of the existing system. The next process in the plan will be the alignment of the IT systems with the future company goals.
Benchmarking
This is the last step in the planning process. The process is integral in understanding whether the plan is working. Therefore, at this level, Brian will evaluate the changes implemented to know challenges in the integrated system and apply the necessary improvements to the system and plan.
