The New York City Draft Riots” & the Civil War
Hundred of Americans were killed to make the country a slavery-free America. African Americans were released from their slavery bondage after the Civil war, and the New York City Draft made African Americans exercise their human rights amid White Americans. Also, racism against African Americans came to an end due to the two war events. After the two wars, African Americans were allowed to join the military as well as other civil jobs in the country (History.com, 2009).

Southern America’s racial attitudes during the War era forced the abolition of slavery in the Northern states. The City Draft Riots introduces learners to the Northern America views and fears of losing their job opportunities to the freed slaves in Northern America. The two events provide class-based opinions during the war period, which makes the person in power to hold on to a leadership position more tenuous than commonly thought.
The New York Draft Riots and Civil War were a race riot; many immigrants, especially whites, were uncomfortable with the increased competition for jobs for freed African Americans. As a result, the whites targeted African Americans’ homes and businesses, leading to the deaths of many people, including the armed forces.
