  3. According to Mellor (34), Walter Collins disappeared on March 10th, 1928, and Gordon was thought to be the killer though his mother had already confessed to the murder.
  4. Lewis and Nelson Winslow were kidnapped from their Pomona home on May 16th, 1928. They had also been picked by Northcott to work on his farm.
  5. The headless Mexican was another boy who had been abducted, tortured, molested, and killed by Northcott though his identity remains a mystery.

  7. Clark had been sexually abused and tortured by his uncle since he began living with him and was used to lure the young victims.
  8. Clark’s sister Jessie visited him in August 1928, and she became worried about his wellbeing. He confessed Northcott’s crimes, and she went and reported them to the American consul.

  2. According to Flacco (67), on August 31st, 1928, Immigration Service inspectors visited Northcott’s ranch, where Clark was taken into custody, which brought about the arrest of Gordon.

  4. Sanford stalled the police while his uncle escaped.
  5. Sanford confessed Gordon’s crimes when he felt he had sufficient time to escape
  6. Gordon and his mother’s arrest.
  7. They were arrested near Vernon, British Colombia, on September 19th, 1928.
  8. They were charged with the murders of the boys.

  8. Sanford was sentenced to five years at the Whittier State School though his sentence was reduced to 23 months.
