The article “The Worldwide Distribution and Characteristics of Existential Counsellors and Psychotherapists” was written by Edgar A. Correia, Mick Cooper, and Lucia Berdondini and published in January 2014. The authors reveal that while the existential therapy approach has been growing globally in recent years, there is no evidence to support this claim. The authors in this paper, therefore, make attempts to map out existential psychotherapy institutes, practitioners, principle centers of training, and the principle societies that existential counselors and psychotherapists are affiliated with. The study was conducted in two steps. The authors first did a systematic online search to identify existential institutes around the world and found 128 institutions in 42 nations. Second, the researchers conducted an online questionnaire survey that was aimed at identifying the characteristics of existential practitioners. From 48 counties, 1264 existential practitionerswho passed the inclusion/exclusion criteria responded to the online questionnaire survey.
This article majorly contributes to the topic concerning the geographical distribution and features of existential psychotherapists and counselors. The data extracted by the authors reveals the global spread of existential therapy approach and makes known the significance and influence of this psychotherapeutic model. The authors associate the worldwide distribution of psychotherapists and counselors to geographical and linguistic. It is therefore clear that in future studies on this topic, researchers should make attempts to overcome geographic and linguistics constraints to help in the establishment of existential therapy worldwide. The study conducted by these researchers forms a basis for further future studies concerning the topic. This research opens the way for other researchers to venture into studies relating to the distribution and characteristics of existential theory practice. The data that was gathered can be used in future studies to establish whether existential psychotherapy has been indeed growing. The findings offer an idea of the spread and relevance of this paradigm globally in this 21st century.. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
