The notion of whether to laugh or not or not always challenges many
This thesis describes the dilemma that people face when choosing to laugh at or with someone. This is based on the fact that laughter have the tendency of invoking varied feeling and it is sometimes hard to draw the line. Laughter has been known to destroy friendship and there is the need to understand the moral scope of laughter.
Connotations
‘Haunt’ – haunt means scare. Though it is an exaggeration on the theme of laughter, sometimes laughter can haunt people who are laughed at based on their cognitive abilities.
“Plague” is a devastating human pandemic. A laugher is compared to a plague as both are difficult to control.
Device: simile
A simile is device that compares two elements. It is objective is to extended the theme of the soliloquy to make it more cultivating to the audience. In this regard, the audience is able to connect more with the narrator by have a clear notion of the direction of the Soliloquy. In the Soliloquy, an example of a simile is “And it is like a plague, hard to control”. In this regard, a laughter is compared to a plague, which is hard to control and contain. Notably, sometime it is a hard to control a laughter whether you are laughing with or at someone.

This a rhetoric question that seeks to extend the theme of the soliloquy by capturing the mind of the audience. It makes the audience to think deeper on the objective of the theme of the Soliloquy.
