topics of fundamental physics
During my undergraduate, I have come across various topics of fundamental physics, e.g., Atomic and Molecular Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Classical Mechanics, Solid State Physics, and Nuclear Physics. Calculus, Mathematical Method in Physics and Computational Physics have built my solid basic to understand the physics well. Introduction to Astrophysics and Theory of Relativity & Cosmology have played my significant rule in the understanding of astrophysics and cosmology. Since I have the determination be to build my carrier as an astrophysicist, I have developed myself more through the MOOCs courses. My first MOOC certificate course was “Astrophysics: Cosmology” offered by ANUX at edX and coordinated by Paul Francis and Nobel winner astrophysicist Brain Schmidt. This course plays a vital role in my understanding of cosmology. In this course, I have come closer to the detailed about the basics of astrophysics: cosmology. Theory of cosmic inflation & an interview on inflation from theoretical particle physicist Lawrence Krauss amused & excited me about the mystery of inflation. Then I have come across about the observational cosmology- Tully-Fisher relation, Dark energy, gravitational lensing, primordial nucleosynthesis, CMB, Baryon-acoustic oscillator, the entropy of the universe and another mind-blowing interview of Charley Lineweaver on entropy and the origin & the ultimate-fate of the universe.
I have then taken another certificate MOOC from ANUX named “Greatest Unsolved Mysteries of the Universe.” In this course, I have come closer to the greatest mysteries beyond our known theory and sciences. The expanding universe, the disproportionality of matter and antimatter, CMB, primordial nucleosynthesis, Dark energy, Type 1a supernovae, Quasars, Reionization, LMC, 21cm radiation & the first stars, Gamma-ray bursts, Dark matter, Formation of solar systems, The Fermi paradox and many more unsolved mysteries have discussed throughout the course. Since I have a firm destination for the courses, I have passed both the course having above 90% marks.
I believe my course knowledge from the undergraduate prescribed syllabus, two best MOOCs courses of astrophysics, and my firm determination to my carrier are the main catalysts that will prove me the best candidate for the program.
