Tourism industry in Louisiana
Abstract
In recent, the tourism industry in Louisiana has been experiencing a resurgence following the occurrences of hurricanes and economic recessions, which culminated in detrimental effects. Much of the success of tourism as a lucrative undertaking may be attributed to the elaborate and strategic approaches revolving around aggressive marketing, improvement of infrastructure cultural preservation.
Additionally, oversight bodies such as Louisiana’s Office of Tourism exercise authority over the partnerships that are developed between the state and stakeholders in the tourism sector (Keul 510). Indeed, the utilization of teamwork has functioned to elevate the status of Louisiana as a desirable tourist destination, as is evidenced by the surge in the number of tourist arrivals to the state. Equally important is the fact that Louisiana’s cultural heritage has emerged as an integral part of the tourism sector as the activities involved resonate well with clients. Additionally, the establishment of welcome centers along major highways presents Louisiana as a hospitable state through the provision of credible information, which helps in the decision-making process for tourists who express diverse interests in regards to leisure activities (Jones, Ginger, and Ells 195).
Moreover, the elaboration on the available tourist attractions ascertains the generation of a substantial amount of revenue as well as ensuring value for money for the visitors (Lucchetti, Veronica, and Xavier Font 3). Accordingly, there the need to evaluate the role of tourism in the economic growth of Louisiana and macroeconomic determinant of arrivals of international tourists in Louisiana from the top six countries that are, France, China, Canada, Germany, and the U.K. The methodology to be applied is achieved through computing for the gross state product (GSP) for Louisiana and the total number of international arrivals in the state (TAIT) using excel (Truong, Dao and Michael Hall 112). The following results are then interpreted accordingly to develop useful policy recommendations that will seek to improve underperforming markets. The results will also highlight the efficacy of the interventions, such as promotion and branding campaigns aimed at enhancing tourism in Louisiana.
