Transcendent and summit leadership
Transcendent leadership involves strategic direction within and amongst the level of organization, self, and others. Self-leadership involves the responsibilities of being proactive and self-aware in personal strengths development. The mechanism of interpersonal influence a leader has upon followers is the leadership of others. Organizational leadership involves strategy, environment, and the organization. Summit leadership is a type of leadership in which information flows only from the top. In summit leadership, it usually is unclear whether the people who attended the meeting have understood the message given (Aldon, 2005).

Both transcendent and summit leadership involve leaders and followers intending to benefit one another. Both leadership skills have the main goal to achieve, which is to achieve success in the organization. Both leadership skills answer the question of how to manage subordinates, and they use psychological methods developed and tested over time. On the differences, transcendent leadership focuses on the whole organization, whereas summit leadership focuses more on the rules to govern subordinates (Avolio, 2005). Transcendent leadership mostly used in industries where the contributions from the employees are required, and creativity is the key. In contrast, summit leadership applies to companies in a middle management position. Transcendent leadership is proactive, while summit leadership is responsive.
Allio’s first hypothesis of good character and Crossman Mazuti’s humanity virtue goes hand in hand with the similarities of the two leadership styles. Transcendent leadership and summit leadership ensures good character and human virtue by using psychological methods that have been used before for efficiency and effectiveness at workplaces. Honoring the idea of good character virtue while navigating the political domain is impossible because the political field does not accept the quality of ethics and good character is part of ethics. It is ethical to have a good character and virtue, but in some situations, the political domain assumes ethics for its success (Mullen, 2008).
Transcendent leadership is a more influential concept of leadership since it allows the employees or people below the administration to contribute to matters concerning the organization. Some issues, such as decision making in a company, are always challenging to handle, and it requires ideas from several people for it to be efficient and useful to society. Transcendent leadership is mostly used in criminal justice organizations since it involves serious matters that need to be handled with care before making the final decision. Before final decisions in a criminal justice organization, the case is passed through law enforcement, courts, and corrections to allow the right decisions concerning the criminal.
