Social determinants of health
Human health is an essential aspect of our daily lives today. It is determined by various factors, both social and physical. The social determinants of health include the environment, occupation, education, and access to health facilities. The physical environment affects health; for example, living in an environment with lots of industries may lead to the contraction of various diseases. This is because of the fumes and chemical wastes, which mostly leads to respiratory infections. Lifestyle can also determine one’s health. “Lifestyle drift describes a tendency in public health to focus on an individual’s behavior, such as smoking, diet, alcohol, and drugs, that are undoubted causes of health inequities”(Michael and Jessica, 2014). Occupation affects human health in that most people spend most of their time in their employment environments. This leads to a lack of body exercise, which causes various health problems.
Working conditions also determine one’s health, for example, working as a carpenter or in a building site. These people mostly suffer from back pains and other body pains due to the hard work involved. Education aspect, for example, most students spend all weekdays in institutions hence less time left for exercising and other activities. This, for example, may lead to obesity, mostly in children. Also, accessibility to health care facilities can determine one’s health. “Given that medical care influences a relatively small portion of overall health, Accountable Care Organizations, and value-based financing model face substantial challenges in equipping health care providers to achieve improvements in the population’s health” (et al. and Elizabeth, 2016). Quality health care is an essential factor and should be accessible by all citizens in a country. . Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
