What happened after Gareth Fuller goes into Quarantine
Gareth Fuller is a British map artist well known for designing topological drawings to analyze a phenomenon of a place. He starts his research with broad walks alongside highways, cultural landmarks, via buildings and through alleyways. Sometimes he can cover long distances up to a hundred miles. It has been his routine until the Corona virus outbreak. As per reporters, Fuller is now being forced to quarantine himself for at least fourteen days.
According to CNN reporters, on the evening of 3rd March, Fuller returns from Kuala Lumpur to the Chinese capital city, Beijing. After his return, he is subjected to a fourteen-day mandatory isolation because of the rules imposed following the rapid spread of the Covid-19.
Inside the four walls quarantine room
In the two week period, Fuller spends each day thinking and analyzing the current virus situation. Finally, he comes up with a series of fourteen drawings with the title, “The Quarantine Maps.” As per the news, it said that he spent mornings by observing what surrounds him, including news from radio and television. He also had long talks with his spouse, who was as well in Quarantine. Later in the afternoons, he spent his time making drawings with his sketchpad.
The first few maps in the series spotlight on Fullers’ apartment, where he spends most of his time listening to the radio as well as reading. While in Quarantine, he draws all the equipment he gathered before the lockdown. Besides, he spends many hours on his veranda peeping through the window and recording everything happening in Beijing streets. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
By the ninth day, Fuller starts to think beyond the bound he could see with his bare eyes. He finds himself thinking more about those who are making sense of the crisis, noting the experience level of each person. The same day the World Health Organization declares the Covid-19 a universal pandemic.
Looking out
It reaches a point where he started reflecting on the people he left back home in Britain, including the smaller communities. His concerns are on how British society, as well as all countries are coping with the Corona virus crisis. Some of his final pieces in the series picture life as an imaginary scenery
He sees the world as a village, an abandoned island surrounded by a sea of sanitizers. Humour has directed Fuller throughout his work and experience. Furthermore, he said that to conquer what the world is experiencing, everyone should be ready to understand as well as seek knowledge. Fuller says the first day in Quarantine was like an ironical situation but later, he started to look outward in favor of his thoughts to show the way.
Conclusion
According to latest reports, fuller is out of Quarantine but his movements are restricted like other people. He has to coup with the set rules including social distancing. As a result Fuller has decided to use his time well to extend the series of maps about the Corona virus outbreak. Finally, he is concerned in examining all the surroundings about the pandemic that has led many to stop day to day activities.
