- What is the overall objective of vehicle detection?
The overall objective of vehicle detection is aimed at tracking vehicles, vehicle counts, the average speed of each car, traffic categorizing, and traffic-based analysis. These objectives work hand-in-hand to ensure the safety of all vehicles.
- You are tasked with recommending a vehicle detection technology to be used across Flagstaff. Which one would you recommend, and why? Be sure to include maintenance and performance benefits and challenges in your recommendation.
The recommended type of vehicle detection based technology would be invasive detection technology. This type is preferred since it utilizes the inductive-based detection that effectively detects metals in vehicles. The maintenance of these detection technologies is based on the replacement of damaged sensors. The damaged sensors are supposed to be replaced with advanced ones for effective performance. The signal control performance of this particular technology is topnotch and provides accurate data. However, technology has some challenges that include high maintenance costs. Another problem involves low transmission speeds of information.
- What are the three design features incorporated by the Econolite Vision camera to combat performance issues in poor environmental conditions? List each one and link it to a specific environmental situation.
- Aluminum Visor- this feature is used in lighting and all-weather conditions.
- Faceplate heaters- it is used in harsh conditions.
- Hydrophilic coated lens- the lens is used in harsh conditions.
