Why Health Education Is Important
Reflective Journal Week 7
Week 5 provided an opportunity to learn about community health. This is an essential topic since community health education builds skills, knowledge, team building, and positive attitudes. Some of the health education topics covered include physical, emotional, mental, and social health. More importantly, community health education helps to allocate funds that will aid in professional development for all relevant stakeholders. Week 5 also provided an opportunity to write journals about weeks 3 and 4. This was a productive exercise since it helped me know my strengths and weaknesses in some of the ways to improve community health education. This was similar to making a nclex from chapters 14 to 17. This required adequate research, which led to the improvement of personal and professional expertise in my nursing career. Through conducting such adequate research, I learned how to adapt to my career as a registered nurse.
Week 6 provided an opportunity to review chapters 23 to 26 and write about migrant workers. In this case, the assignment about migrant workers helps to comprehend how some of the immigrant workers were affected politically, economically, and, more importantly, how the laws affected their access to healthcare. Similar to week 5, creating a nclex helps improve professional and personal skills in nursing. The review of the chapters helped to formulate the reflective journals on migrant workers and enclex. More importantly, week six helped learn more about public health nurses in preventing and managing communicable diseases. Communicable diseases are known to affect many people since people do not understand how those diseases are communicated. In this case, public health nurses need to know how to prevent and manage such diseases. Week 6 thus presented public health nurses with the opportunity to learn about how migrant workers are affected by communicable diseases.
