Working Relationship with the Colleague and Strengths and Weaknesses

During the entire period of collaboration in identifying the potential diagnosis of the case of Marley, the working relationship between my partner and I was relatively warm. For instance, the working partner was relatively resourceful owing to his expertise of 30 years in the field and the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders. The knowledge compounded by the experience of the partner proved a resourceful aspect in the discussion and the entire collaboration process. One essential benefit is that it eliminates most of the preventive errors and ensure there is improved relationships among healthcare professionals. However, the shortcomings of the collaboration arise when there no common understanding between the partners, especially if one partner is experienced than the other.

Description of the Case

Marley, a nine-year-old, finds it quite hard to stay normal after the birth of the youngest child in the family. Though the problem started 18 months ago after the birth of the youngest sibling, the behavior developed into failure to take instructions, defying the mother, distancing himself from family members, and feeling targeted. The defiance also continued in school as the teachers report instances when he becomes argumentative and easily gets annoyed when a small matter arises. Currently, the issue is getting out of hand as the mother is sometimes compelled to scream at him owing to his unceasing naggings, leading to the parent feeling frustrated. However, he socializes effectively with classmates and seemingly derives pleasure from the gaming activities and engaging in various school activities save for class works.

The Red Flags and Collaboration Plans

The red flags in the case of Marley include prolonged sadness, being overly sensitive, getting easily triggered, getting argumentative, and blatantly disregards all the existing rules and instructions from the adult. Based on these red flags, the partner and I have agreed to meet every Monday to encourage the collaborative approach in tackling discussions and other future engagements.
