Workplace Toxins
Introduction
Employees working in chemical industries are usually affected by chemicals produced. Although such organizations have health precaution measures, it is not sufficient enough to curb the effect. Employees get affected to the level that they cannot be able to work again (Dimoff, & Kelloway, 2019). This chemical effect may even paralyze the person affected to appoint where they cannot be able to handle even the simplest domestic job back at their home. The employer must take care of the affected employee so that they can be able to meet their basic needs as before.
The employer gets affected just like the employee. It is very devastating for many employers from such companies to lose skillful employees due to health issues. Employers may be affected mentally due to the stress of having an organization employee getting sick (Dimoff, & Kelloway, 2019). Employees may also demand compensation due to the health and physical damages suffering as a result of chemicals form these organizations. Sometimes the employers may not be ready to pay the costs done to the employee as a result of chemical effects to the employee (Dimoff, & Kelloway, 2019). In such situations, employees may choose to seek legal actions. Employers will be pushed by state authorities to compensate considerable amounts to the employees as compensation.
Employees are affected mentally, physically, and the worst effect is the health problem. The adverse impact can leave the affected employees to paralyze. At this point, they cannot be able to work again. It is a severe problem for an employee not to work. Employees will not be able to get wages/salaries as usual (Dimoff & Kelloway, 2019). Lack of finance will result in related financial problems such as employees failing to pay the bills. Further effects of health-related issues are mental problems resulting from stress and neglect by family members in case of paralysis resulting from the chemical effects.
Employers should educate their employees at every time on safe ways of handling harmful chemical substances in a move of reducing health problems. Employees should be subjected to continuous basic learning program to remind them of the effect of chemicals on their bodies and the whole organization as a whole (Dimoff, & Kelloway, 2019). Training programs should be made mandatory to all employees of the organization. Besides the learning and the emancipation procedures, employers should provide caution posters and warning signs to all possible harmful chemical points. These will help in warning the employees, reducing the impact of related issues.
Employers and employees should also take insurance covers to cater for any damages that may occur to an employee of an organization. Although insurance response always acts after an accident happens, they can take care of the medical bills of the affected employee. This helps in faster treatment of an employee while at the same time reducing the financial stress (Dhaene et al..,2017). substantive financial needs may be required for the treatment of chemically affected employees, which may be taken care of by the respective insurance medical cover scheme. Insurance through specific damage covers may pay the employee an agreed compensation. This insurance intervention helps in eliminating legal matters between the employer and an employee.
