Writing Assignment 1: What is Your Worldview?
Introduction
Just like it sounds, worldview refers to how a person looks at the world. Everybody has their lenses through which they interact with their experiences. For instance, two or more people may view the same object, but their reactions are entirely different. My worldview refers to how I describe my understanding of the world. In this essay, I will be providing a detailed reflection that answers questions such as my worldview, my practical examples of this worldview, questions, contradictions, or inconsistencies within my worldview, and its implications. Finally, I will share my conclusion about this topic and the different issues within it.
My Worldview
My worldview is about how I observe and live through my beliefs and assumptions, as well as how I react to the world around me. However, my personal view of the world does not limit my understanding of other people’s worldviews. Many experiences have influenced my worldview throughout my lifetime. My main idea as far as my worldview is concerned is that I was created for a specific purpose. The description of my worldview is the basis of reality about my understanding of the world.
I believe in the existence of God, who is the provider of life. God is the source of everything good. My belief regarding this idea is from the Bible, in the book of Jeremiah 29:11. Here, God Himself declares that he knows the plans He has for us. He is our creator. He will never let us down and provides for all our needs. I also believe that God made me because of a specific reason. According to the book of Genesis, God made man using His own hands. Besides, we are made from His image. Therefore, I believe in respect to life because it is from God.
About the world around us, I believe God created it. From the book of Genesis, God created the world and all the things in it. From the look of how the world is made, it is evident that everything is in an orderly manner. We see water bodies and land are made in such a way that they do not collide. God, Himself, was orderly since He created heaven and earth and all the things in them in an orderly manner. I believe God is in control of the world and the events that occur in it. He has power over everything in the world because he made them. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
My view of a person’s death is that God is the reason for everything. Therefore, He is accountable for our lives and deaths. When we die, our actions o0n earth determine where God will take us- either to hell or heaven. Just as described in the Bible, those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ and follow His righteous path will inherit the kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, the evil ones will be taken to hell and punished for their evil deeds. Generally, our lives here on earth will determine where God will take us once we die.
The possibility of knowing anything stems from God’s grace. Our thinking capacity and the knowledge of the earth are because of God’s authority, who created man to rule over His creation. Therefore, God gave us more wisdom as compared to His other creatures so that we can manage them. This way, we can know right and wrong because God gave us knowledge. The events that occurred in the Garden of Eden led to the reasoning of distinguishing right from wrong.
My belief in the meaning of human history is based on the biblical account. I believe in the book of Genesis, from chapters one to eleven- that gives a detailed description of human origin. Man and God have always interacted since creation. Many events have occurred in history that illustrate our background and God’s existence. Our history is also shaped by God’s decision to send His only son to redeem us from our sins. Generally, human history originates from God and His creation of the world.
Whenever I am faced with any challenge, I present my grievances to my creator. This is one of the practical examples of my worldview. I believe that a prayer is a tool that links us with our God. Besides, when one dies, we think that their destination is in God’s hands. If they were sinners, they would go directly to hell; however, God will take them to heaven if they follow His commandments while still alive. Finally, my practical example of the worldview is about how I live. I try as much as possible to live as per the commandments of God.
Questions, Inconsistencies, and Contradictions
one of the inconsistencies with my worldview is scientific pieces of evidence. Throughout my studies, there have been questions revolving around scientific pieces of evidence regarding the origin of life and the world. These pieces of evidence contradict my worldview as they do not prove the existence of God. Besides, they offer a different perspective that hinders my viewpoint of the world.
Implications
Worldviews are essential in providing structure to our actions and structure. Through my worldview, I have found the meaning of life. Initially, when I was still young in mind and physically, I never thought about my life. However, when I faced some challenges while growing up, I came to ask myself about many questions.
In some cases, I almost lost hope in my studies and life in general. However, when I reassessed my life, I realized that God had a purpose in creating me. I was inspired by Aristotle’s teaching, which states, “each man’s life has a purpose, and that the function of one’s life is to attain that purpose…” This was one of my greatest inspirations that helped me define the meaning of life.
Besides, my worldview affects the way I express myself. My values, attitudes, behaviors, assumptions, and ideas that make up my worldview change my relationships, practices, and goals. A good understanding of other people’s worldviews has enabled me to navigate easily through life. For instance, I try best to follow the principles recommended by God. Consequently, I aspire to do the right thing as required by God.
Conclusion
Generally, my worldview has been shaped by my belief in God. The various teachings in the Bible have shaped the way I view the world. Therefore, my worldview is based on the fact that God is the creator and provider of everything we need. Also, our lives and origins are linked to God. Everything that happens in the world is under God’s control.
