Writing Reflection

1. Support services in the course

In this course of ENC 1101 studied during this semester, i had several support services that helped in the academics of the course. One of the support services included the Valencia East campus library that has been providing me with all the necessary sources for different research involved in completing the given assignments. Another support service included tutor advisory comments during the semester after every assignment, and this helped me in growing throughout the semester on tackling different things.

2. Areas of Strength during the semester continued area of growth as a writer, student, and future professional.

My areas of strength during this semester has been the ability to write clear, easy to read, and well-orgnanized essays and assignments. From the beginning to the end of the semester, this has always been my strong point, together with writing essays with little grammatical, punctuation, and structural errors. However, when i started the course, i had challenges organizing thoughts together and using transitions to link my thoughts together. I have experienced growth in this situation where, in every assignment, there has been an issue with development, but i continue to improve on their usage. At the beginning of the semester, i used to have a problem of content in assignments where most of my tasks were short and did not reflect all the information required. This challenge has since changed since i can find enough information necessary to explain my thoughts. I used to make assumptions that the reader understands what i want to say without providing more details on the issue. I used to assume that the reader knows what i am talking about and will know without having to provide information about what i am talking about.

3. Overall writing lessons, did you learn from the readings, videos assigned this semester?

The writing lessons and readings learned during the semester included learning how to link reading to writing. The basis of excellent writing skills can read and understand well. The reason behind having inadequate information to cover the required content and word count even after conducting research is not having the ability to read extensively and understand. The semester has taught me to take the time to read and follow the instructions before embarking on an assignment and going through the task after writing it.

4. Describe the Writing process of the final essay.

Writing the essay included turning the peer review outline into an article, adding research, and transitions to form an argumentative essay. After writing the final draft of the last section, the tutor responded with different comments on issues of the piece that needed to be revised. First, the introduction to the composition required to be changed that is a condensation of the thesis to form one sentence that is quick to be grasped by the reader. Background information was needed to show ethos and reasons why the topic was selected and where the problem exists. The tutor also wanted a change n the use of resources, including the introduction of quotes and citing everything that was not in my words. During the revision of the paper, i included background information on the topic and where the problem existed regarding the issue, i also condensed the thesis to one sentence that described what was expected in the paper. I also tried to introduce every quotation and citation included in the article for the quotes to be relevant to the topic.

5. impact of the research refreshers on your writing and reading practices

The academic refreshers were very crucial in developing my writing and reading practices. The academic refreshers helped me in organizing my essays, developing an academic tone, avoiding plagiarism, and selecting the best resources for my articles. The academic refresher performance seemed to match the grammar areas of my essays closely.

6. what was the place of research in your writing

The study was significant in my book since it provided all the necessary support information to the essay. During the final piece, i used the Valencia East campus library as the primary source of articles to be referenced. Finding new information regarding the topic helped in my writing but posed some unique challenges at the same time. For instance, finding out that maybe what is regarded to be general information in some people is not available to some parts of the society was challenging to address in the essay. Aiming to reduce fallacies but at the same time, deducing conclusions from the resources used was quite challenging.

7. application of ENC 1101 to writing-intensive courses in the future.

The ENC 1101 provided basics to writing and reading, and this has provided an excellent background on more writing-intensive assignments.
