Why I Want to Study Abroad in Shanghai, China in Summer 2020
Studying abroad is a dream that every person wishes to attain. With programs such as the High School Summer Abroad program, it has become possible for junior students to enjoy their summer studies abroad, in an environment that is entirely different from what they are used to. As a female junior student from North Carolina, I believe going for the high school summer program in a country such as China, Shanghai, to be specific would create an epic feeling that I have forever wished to encounter in my lifetime.
I am beginning a Chinese class at school. Therefore, traveling to China for my summer high school program will significantly improve my Chinese language skills. Although I could just learn the Chinese language from my school, going to the original homeland of the language will significantly boost by Chinese language skills since I will, on day to day basis, encounter Chinese speaking individuals throughout Shanghai, something that will force me to learn this language so that we could be communicating with them fluently.
Traveling to China for my high school summer abroad program will also help me to experience life abroad. I am from a small town in North Carolina, and I believe that going to Shanghai will help me experience the epic life that the Chinese encounter in these huge cities. Besides, I will also go around China, exploring the other huge cities present in the country and enjoy my stay in the country. It will feel good to come from a small town and start enjoying life in such a big town like Shanghai, that is miles away from my home.
I have also dreamt of teaching English language in China. Therefore, going to Shanghai in China would help me continue with my pursuit towards this career. For instance, if I go to China, I will be able to associate with the Chinese people and understand their language. Besides, this trip to Shanghai will help me to familiarize myself with the Chinese nation and its citizens. This will, therefore, make it possible for me to understand the various steps or techniques that I will use in my attempt to go and teach English in this country. I will have enough time to tour around the country and associate with the people, and thus I will identify the best approaches that I could use or the best regions that I could visit to be able to teach English language in China.
Going to China will also help me to make new foreign friends. Having friends in my hometown is not enough. I believe that making more friends from abroad in nations that are miles away from my home is more fun compared to creating friends in one’s neighborhood. Therefore, my summer stay in China would be joyous in the sense that I will establish new friendships and interact with them to know more about their Chinese ways of life. I will also tell them about life in the United States, specifically in North Carolina.
Lastly, going to Shanghai, China, will help me learn more about Chinese culture, something that I have desired to do for the rest of my life. I have not had the opportunity to interact more with the Chinese people to know more about their ways of life. Therefore, going to Shanghai will give me the opportunity to interact with the Chinese people and learn more about their culture. I only learn about the Chinese culture in our class, and thus it would be wonderful to have a first-hand experience of this culture myself. The whole experience will just be awesome to me.
