Parental notification
I believe that Sabrina Holmquist is right about parental notification. This is because I think that if a woman, or girl under eighteen, wants an abortion, it is her right to get that procedure done, and her decision shouldn’t be influenced by anyone else around her, including her parents. It is the girl’s body and, therefore, I conclude that it is her own choice.

I believe that it is morally permissible for a girl under eighteen to have an abortion without notifying their parent/ guardian no matter what situation. The specific situation should not influence why the girl should notify her parents. It is her decision to get an abortion and no one else’s. I believe that parental notification should rather be needed for girls under 14; instead, as girls under 14 shouldn’t be in this situation, and if they are, then they need parental intervention.

If a girl has to choose between receiving chemotherapy treatment for her cancerous condition and living or giving birth to her unborn child at the time, she should not be forced to give up her own life. I believe that having an act-utilitarian mindset and just letting everyone be happy is the most comfortable and most efficient option since I believe that the fetus doesn’t even have any emotions or feels pain.

A girl should not be forced to have a child she doesn’t want. It would be awful and life-altering to be the victim of sexual abuse (even incest) or be in a life-threatening situation and then on top of that have to worry about not being able to get an abortion because one’s parent’s beliefs aren’t the same as their own. I firmly believe that parental notification is not needed or necessary for girls under 18.

It will not be reasonable to require parental notification in all cases without exception. Medical and death cases have been reported by physicians in some cases where there was a need to obtain parental notification before an emergency abortion was done. In most pregnancy cases involving girls under 18, the parents have acted violently; therefore, most girls opt to get an abortion without letting their parents know illegally.
