Walden is the narrator of the two years that Henry David Thoreau developed his cabin, get his food, and more so lived a simple life in the woods near concord. He is an influential author who wrote several essays and journals elaborating matters concerning simple living. David claimed that his idea was as a result of the things that surround him. He lived in solitary among the nature of the Walden Pond in Concord, MA. Much of his theory developed from his environment. He claimed on how easy it is for one to acquire the four necessities of life. Walden said that, once these necessities are obtained, one should focus on then and add an effort that will lead to the growth of these things.
In most of his essays, Walden did not write like an England writer but as a narrator. His usual style involved close observation of nature, symbolic meanings, ecology, and environmental history. According to Walden (2018), the main point was survival in the face of hostile elements, natural decay, and historical change. The text about life in the woods encouraged people to accept the reality of their society and make an impact or change in the community. Making life easy in every environment was the mission of Walden. As a reader of his content, you will understand your society and how to bring a change in that society. One thing which comes in the mind of the reader is how-to strategies and focus of the stuff that will lead to development and growth.
In making his work more productive, David neglect to understand that he has little concerning no obligation. In this regard, David has not included any dependant who relies on his work. This was a result of an increase in the population, and the families were getting bigger every day. Also, he failed to elaborate on how important is his role in his own life experience. Referring to Walden, (2018), More of his work succeeded due to the relationship that he created with Emerson. If it wasn’t for Emerson’s intervention, most of his ideas could not have been developed. This is because he is found recognizing Emerson, even more than his mother.
In conclusion, it is good for one to understand their environment and how they are better suited to that environment. With the knowledge from David, you will realize that most of the things in society are adaptable and can lead to a change of one’s character.
