Role of ICT in the policy development

Introduction

The environmental sector is one most crucial segments of society. With the climate change being one of the most controversial global issues.  The use of energy-efficient fuels and models in the community is one most important tools towards achieving one of the most sustainable environmental sustainability and reducing the impacts of climate change. Most governments have developed specific methods that involve the integration of modern technology through the use of ICT in managing their local environment (Subha, & Usha, 2013). This has contributed significantly to the advancement and growth of environmental management. Very often, the control of the environment through the use of ICT involves the use of ICT in the development of environmental policies.  The policies are developed in line with the conservation of critical ecological elements and are monitored through the e-government services.   The development of an ecological conversation policy to help in the management of the negative impacts of climate change remains one essential role of the government (Panasevič, 2013).

Role of ICT in the policy development

Information and communications technologies ICTs is a broad-based technology that includes the various method of management that do support the creation, storage, and the manipulation of the communication of information. Very often, the frequent use of ICT in policy development involves championing the people’s knowledge in the event of a policy.  The scope of the ICT use in the development of a system that requires energy efficiency towards mitigation of climate change impacts does include the use of the social media, television, radios and another form of the digitals devices of all type in creating and sharing of information that relates to the policy. ICT, in this way, has the role of creation, storage, and dissemination of the essential information concerning the system that is being developed (Singh, 2013).

Policy development, especially one which involves the various stakeholders such as this on the element of climate change, must be communicated appropriately. All the multiple stakeholders involved in the development of such a policy must be at the same level of understanding about the components of the plan at all times during the various stage. It is the role of the ICT to ensure that the policy stakeholders get the right information as well as share the information in the proper manner.  In the element of efficient energy use of mitigate the impacts of climate change policy, it is essential that the various stakeholders which in this cases include the policy expert, conservation experts, bodies concerned with the energy and most important the general public which is directly affected by the policy beat the same level of understanding of the procedure being formulated. For this to happen, ICT must ensure that all these different bodies are adequately communicated to (Subha & Usha, 2013).

The role of the ICT in thus efficiency energy policy is sharing the much valuable information and a clear roadmap of the system.  The various stakeholders much give their varying opinion on the various elements of the policy at different levels. However, for this to happen, the platform where the information is shared must be made very open for everyone. This can be achieved through effective ICT.  Lastly the role of the ICT in this policy development is that it will serve as a platform where the key elements of the policy are displayed with the aim of ensuring that the information that is necessary for the right policy implementation at the final stage is made available to all the stakeholders of the policy and most important the members of the society where the government is planning to implement the system (Panasevič, 2013)..

Key characteristics of the initiative

The use of information technology in the development of efficient energy use policy is a complex initiative. However, with the proper implementation of the critical complement and the appropriate use of technology, it is possible to achieve the various goals of the action. ICT makes this initiative quite easy to accomplish in modern society, where people embrace the use of technology in the multiple elements of life. The effort is therefore achievable since it is possible to meet the needs of the many people or a more significant percentage of the society through this initiative, which allows them to participate in the formation of the policy actively. The key feature of the initiative is that it is community-based. Through the use of modern IT in the implementation of the plan, the various members of the community through the community leaders are quickly mobilized. The government, in the way, would spend relatively a smaller amount of money in the implementation of the initiative compared to the traditional methods.  The effort is also very viable, considering that it is based on a modern manner of policy development where every member of the community can take place in its implementation (Singh, 2013).

Policy implication

The active energy use policy implies that it would, in the long-run, result in reduced climate change. Since the system aims at the development of a method of energy use which is eco-friendly, the policy would help the reduction of the various energy use methods, which promote the reuse or recycling of the energy. It will positively impact how the members of society think concerning energy use or view the environment at large. The implication or the impact of the policy is a society where the individual members of the community can champion for better use of environmentally friendly sources of energy that does not pollute the environment and hence safer environment in the future (Panasevič, 2013).

Conclusion

ICT has become an integral part of every modern society. Most of the policies developed today by the various communities all over the world have been made possible through the application of the latest use of the ICT, which rallies for inclusivity in the decision making process concerning a policy. As such various members of the society today remain critical in policymaking. In the case of efficient energy use, ICT has a crucial role to play in ensuring the success of the policy.
