Hidden figures can be understood from two dimensions. First, it is a term that refers to West Computer Group’s African-American female, such as Mary, Dorothy, and Katherine, who were mathematicians and engineers at NASA. Initially, Mary, Dorothy, and Katherine had been racially discriminated against due to early sexist and racism in America, making them be isolated. They had been sealed off in an old building’s basement, which was far away from their equivalent male and female whites. The Americans did not believe that including them in the project of defeating the Russian’s spacecraft will be a good idea since they seemed valueless. Later, they were included in the program, which made them put an extra effort into discovering the equations and numbers that realized human spacecraft. Hidden figures, therefore remind people to remain focused on the abilities of others through past and present knowledge.

Impossible miracles

Despite Mary being brilliant and excelling in all NASA’s assigned task, she had a vision of becoming an engineer, but her gender and race are the main obstacles. However, Karl Zielinski, her superior, always motivated her to accomplish a vision, despite the challenges. He further explains to her the impossible miracle in outer space when with his colleague, John Glenn, they always become smaller occupants in another place, which does not support life.

Twice oppressed, twice triumphant

Sexism and racism oppression on women of color in the world has been a prevalent issue. From the experiences of Mary, Dorothy, and Katherine, they are subjected to stressful conditions, such as using separate provisions or being inspected by their workplace bosses. However, they are symbols of excellence, despite the challenges.

Someone has to be first

Mary had the vision to become an engineer, but the racially segregated high school policy was an obstacle. However, she filed a case to be enrolled, where she defended herself by claiming that there is no difference between Black and White women. Later, she was considered and became the first African-American to attend college. After her studies, she made other achievements, such as becoming the 1^st African-American NASA’s female engineer.

Shared Dreams, Shared Work

This period existed in American history when both Blacks and Whites shared dreams and goals. However, the current era has been characterized by political, cultural, and economic divisions. Many people have focused on the division to the extent that they cannot share dreams and goals. In this case, individuals need to get up and make their communities a better place.

It’s all about education

Hidden figures should be exposed to young school children to motivate them to celebrate the role and achievement of women in science and technology. Mary, Dorothy, and Katherine have become successful in this field after getting a good education. Besides, the existing sexism and racism are caused by the lack of encounter or learning, which should be embraced to eliminate such behaviors.

Overlooked Unnoticed

In this scene, Katherine Johnson, as a result of racism that limited her efforts as an African-American to use the colored restroom, she is seen running in the rain. Besides, Johnson had limited opportunities to use the available colored provisions, such as the male coffee pot. However, Katherine Johnson’s work ritual forced her boss to change the system to favor her. Also, in this scene, White men were surprised by her presence in the board room, which was not supposed to be entered by women. Currently, there still exists a large gender gap in the executive board rooms.

1. In my world, disabled people are among the hidden figures. These people have been ignored due to their physical disadvantages, which makes them be undervalued. To help them, I will inform various employers about their abilities so that they can be absorbed in different workplaces.
2. Due to the possibilities of human spacecraft, other discoveries are likely to occur in the planets that do not support life. People’s exploration of these planets will enable them to discover new means to sustain life. I can participate in this discovery by pursuing more education in the field of science and technology to gain relevant and essential skills.

Impossible miracles

1. My life is like an impossible miracle since people of my age, most of them have died, yet I am still alive. This situation strengthens me to work hard since it reminds me that there are great accomplishments I am supposed to fulfill in this world.
2. Yes, I see impossible miracles in my community. I have seen many people achieving their dreams and becoming wealthy, despite coming from humble backgrounds. Impossible miracles inspire me since it calls for hard work and focus, and other things automatically follow, which pushes me closer to achieve dreams.

Twice Oppressed, Twice triumphant

1. I have encountered cases of orphans being oppressed to kill their visions. Despite the subjected oppressions, these individuals have maintained their focus and finally achieved their dreams. This experience has been an inspiration since I have realized that the critical factors to success are intelligence and focus, and if they are present, nothing is impossible, despite the existing challenges.
2. I can alleviate such oppression by offering concrete support to the victims, such as finances, to help them fulfill their ambitions.

Someone Has to Be First

1. I have seen a member of my community, becoming the first surgeon. This achievement has inspired change and made other community members encourage each other to use him as a role model for realizing dreams.
2. I can be the first person in my community to discover the cure for HIV/AIDS. The education and awareness I have gained are the best weapons of realizing the important needs of individuals in fulfilling my dreams.

            Shared Dreams, Shared Work

1. The main action that led to this change is when people came together. Later, it supported the formulation of practical ways on how each person will contribute towards the project’s fulfillment. Finally, individuals have provided different resources that lead to change.
2. Changing the behaviors of the community members so that they can embrace the need for helping others. This practice can be realized by helping those who have been faced with difficulties so that they may understand its importance.

It’s All About Education

1. Education has enabled me to realize that good health is the first step towards success. I have therefore been cautious about maintaining a healthy body with energy to pursue my goals. Besides, the encounters with others have shaped my life since they have supported          me during challenging times.
2. First, learning has enabled me to recognize that humans have equal opportunities towards success, hence they should work hard for a better future. Second, experience has helped me to realize the importance of supporting others. These factors have driven me to help the poor in the community so that they may also achieve their visions.
