(ii) The skills that I feel this assignment has helped me develop the most.
The assignment has helped me develop good research skills. I have gained skills such as keenness to detail, identifying the main points in an excerpt as well as the ability to take note of the terms used. I have learned to differentiate the meaning of two similar words by understanding how it has been used in a sentence. Words with the same spelling do not necessarily have the same meaning. Reading out aloud has helped me have the ability to identify the correctness and clarity of a sentence. Improper sentences can be identified when reading out aloud, hence has enabled me to be able to correct mistakes in my work.
The assignment has helped me to be equipped with the skill of note-taking. Listing down the key points from an article and later developing them into a story or an analysis has helped me gain language mastery. Mastering the language has helped me grow in attaining a good flow of my ideas as well as articulating them well. I can clearly express myself well, even when I am studying other disciplines in my course. My reading skills have improved, for I have learned how to keep engaged when reading in that I can keenly read the text. Having read and involved in class discussions has helped me improve my fluency and skill of expressing my views accurately without mixing up ideas.
How this assignment has helped me study for my other classes
This assignment has helped me to engage in my other courses actively, for I am now equipped with tips on how to stay motivated on the topic of study. I can now be able to do my assignments much better; for example, I can write the assigned essays more accurately. I have learned the correct punctuation of text; hence, I can write sentences that can be easily understood. My performance has improved because I have learned skills of carefully reading and understanding questions; therefore, I can answer them correctly without misinterpretations. I can also actively engage in class discussions and do presentations confidently.
My writing skills have improved, for I have learned how to get the correct meaning and spelling of many words. I have learned that through proper writing, I can easily make my essays and assignment have good flow hence help me to attain good marks. Research skills have helped me find it easier to tackle my assignments and submit them on time. I spend less time trying to explain concepts for research skills that have helped me know where and how to search for the assigned material.
Research, discussions, readings, and writing have played a significant role in equipping me with crucial skills that are continually helping me improve in my studies. Continual reading and daily engagement in reading and analyzing material have created a sense of motivation in me, thereby getting more interested in my studies than before. I have therefore set a goal of improving my language writing and its fluency. I plan to achieve my goal by setting aside thirty minutes every lunch hour to read storybook materials. I will also write down the lessons learned from each story so that I can keep engaged in my practice.
