Impairment reduces the capability of the patient to work, and the patient suffers from loss of income, and therefore this factor should be considered. This is an era which comprised of Medicare and Medicaid, and mainframe was shared in hospitals like Sanford because storage and computers became so expensive for healthcare centres to acquire. The systems were placed in single departments making it difficult to share information between departments.

The future of information systems in the healthcare sector is the growth of electronic health records that ensures the safety of the healthcare community. In the future, patients’ data will be repository due to the introduction of the international standard of APIs. These systems will ensure proper storage and retrieval of data. The systems will have data entry and review applications that will be used to retrieve healthcare environmental, economic and behavioural data. The data is then utilized to help in the improvement of healthcare services. Technological innovations in the future will create robust, safe technologies that will improve the infrastructure in Sanford. Future innovations will accommodate healthcare issues and work towards solving them. For example, the errors that occur in Sanford Hospital will be reduced, which in turn will result in quality healthcare (Evans, 2016). Also, the future evolution of information systems is working towards the introduction of advanced telehealth technologies.
