NVIDIA COMPANY HISTORY
Nvidia is a worldwide company that deals with the manufacturing of graphics processor, mobile technologies, and desktop computers. The company started its operations in 1993 and founded by three American scientists. Its is well known for its professionalism in the development of integrated circuits which are used in a verity of fields. The company has its headquarters in Santa Clara California, and it is the leading producer of high-end graphic processing units. In 1997, it became the essential company in computer gaming when it launched the RIVA series graphics processor. In 1997, it gained more popularity when it released the GeForce 256 graphical processing unit, which was good at giving excellent 3D graphics quality. In 2000, the company bought 3dfx interactive’s, which was a video maker to end the battle between GeForce and 3dfx technologies (Datamonitor, 2000). Microsoft corporation chose Nvidia in the same year to make graphics cards for it while waiting for the famous Microsoft Xbox video game console. In 2007, Nvidia was honoured company of the year by Forbes magazine due to its quick growth and success.
Apart from its prowess in the gaming industry, the company has an ethical stance in computing technologies. In 1994, the company reached an agreement with wafer fabricators which was its first partnership which led to the development of Nvidia’s first single-chip graphical user interface accelerator. The company also made arrangements to have diamond multimedia systems to install the chips in multimedia accelerator boards. In 1999 Nvidia settled its disagreements with silicon graphic and had a partnership where they agreed to cross-license their patent portfolios. In August the same year, Silicon transferred about 50 graphic engineers to Nvidia to acknowledge the partnership.
