Overcoming failures to achieve success
Introduction
Failure forms part of living experiences, which conjures implications of hopelessness among people as it may lead to continued disappointing results if not well managed (Petroski, 2018). Failure imbues the preconditions of success, such as wisdom and profound growth of an individual hence the need for overcoming it to be successful. Going through setbacks can motivate an individual to persevere and find all possible ways to succeed through overcoming the challenges. Based on research, people tend to fear failure, which requires accepting the blame; hence, tirelessly strives to evade it by all means available, thus exploring potential solutions (Petroski, 2018). This paper provides a discussion on how people overcome failures to achieve success, as I have witnessed. Many of the famous successful persons I am aware of overcame a series of setbacks at some points before achieving success. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
People tend to admire achieving their interests instant with easiness without considering the cost and sacrifice required (Petroski, 2018). Accepting that nothing quality comes easy, enables people to endure several setbacks to succeed. Many of the successful people got motivated to drive for success through persevering and accepting the blame of failure. The pain of being associated with failure makes people sacrifice a lot and work tirelessly to evade it hence achieving something worthwhile. For instance, my uncle, before becoming an executive officer in the US Air force, he sacrificed most of his property and risked his life a lot. The journey for success is characterized by inevitable setbacks, in which most successful people use them as motivating factors to explore more potentialities (Petroski, 2018). People have overcome failure through neglecting naysayers who tend to discourage them by saying statements such as “ I knew you would end up failing’, and ’you cannot make it since you ignored my advice.’ People come out in full effort to discourage those who have ambitions and visions of going far once they experience failure. For example, former president of USA Baraka Obama experienced many discouraging words from people that he could not become the president, but he focused on his goals hence achieving them. One cannot overcome challenges by listening to such discouraging statements hence the need to assume them to make excellent outcomes regardless of the shortcomings experienced.
The relationship between the affective and cognitive aspects of an individual can be used to overcome setbacks (Petroski, 2018). On failure, people with strong personal judgment beliefs on their potentialities of achieving success tend to be motivated to strive for success (Petroski, 2018). Interaction between emotional control and self-efficacy helps people to learn how to prevent the re-occurrence of the failures, hence succeeding. Research shows that most successful people have experienced the most setbacks, but they did not give up, thus overcoming the setbacks (Petroski, 2018). Also, i have witnessed people succeed due to their persistence, regardless of the traumatic events they experience in their success journey. For example, one of the wealthiest people in the US, Bill Gates, at some point, his first company, did work out, but he never gave up.
Based on research, fear of failure holds people back from success (Petroski, 2018). Have seen people succeed by being brave enough to face multiple failures in which they fail and bounce back severally until they achieve their goals. For instance, I have witnessed my classmate, who was always brave to answer questions in the class and ended up being the best student in the county. Through overcoming failures, one faces down his or her fears to fail, hence being motivated to do more for the best outcomes. Although research shows that the human being will strive more to evade failure than to gain pleasure, one should leverage the argument by doing more in overcoming the setbacks and achieving goals as most of the successful people did. Furthermore, I have seen people overcome setbacks by considering the techniques used by already succeeded persons in their field. Based on research, every successful journey leaves useful clues as it experiences and overcomes investable failures, hence helpful for those emulating similar goals (Petroski, 2018).
