Federal papers

Introduction

The national articles were written after the American revolutionary war that led to the separations of the Europe and France colonies. The papers are meant to make America a united nation after separating during this war. The articles were written by John Jay, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, and they published them under Publius name in the year 1787 and 1788. The authors of this paper are the founding fathers of America. The articles are meant to seek the new constitution for America and also eliminate the local and federal governments hence giving power to the national government. The national government will be tasked to formulate policies and laws that will protect all citizens compared to local governments that will agree with foreign countries that will benefit their area of jurisdiction only. The federal papers number 2-5 were written by John Jay talking intensively on the dangers of external force and influence.

Jay’s argument in the Federal paper, labelled number two is entirely revolving around unity. Jay argues that the union of the colonies will bring prosperity in the coming centuries. Also, he adds that those who think that dividing united states into sovereignties it will be unfavorable for the more significant benefit. Before the United States constitution, many states had their foreign policies and currencies, which made it difficult to trade with other states. Also, the government had no right to tax the sates hence had limited money to settle debts. Jay asserted that a unified government is profound in providing amicable solutions to these conflicts. The government will advocate for unified foreign policies, monetary system and equal, fair tax since a centralised government will protect the country from foreign policy influence.

Jay, in paper no. 3 argues that a robust national government will preserve peace and also, a United America will less provoke other nations to attack. United America would less engage in unlawful and violence matters through upholding the international treaty, whereas the states bordering will immediately act. In addition, Jay asserted that in the process of a global conflict, a foreign power would be likely to come to terms with United America compared to the State government. For instance, Genoa and France.

In paper no. 4, Jay argues that a singular government acting on behave of all states would serve as a significant deterrent to military interference by different republics that a system wherein each state is controlling its affairs. John Jay adds that one union will serve better than numerous countries with their government. All states will be required to provide people to the military and navy of the unified government.

The federalist paper no. 5, Jay states assert that a whole and perfect union will be the solid foundation of lasting peace. The union will secure peace, property, liberty, religion and do away with all hatreds, jealousies and differences amongst themselves. By so doing, it will increase their strength, trade, riches, and through the union, they will be able to join together to resist all her enemies. Jay concludes that the union is the only efficient way to secure our present and future happiness. The weaknesses and divisions at home will attract the danger from abroad, and the single saviour is the union, strength and sound government system.

The interesting section

Amongst the four papers by John jay, I found almost every line interesting. Besides that, the spirit in Jay of having a stable central government and doing away with the state government is interesting to me. The way Jay is arguing on the dangers of having the state government in terms of policymaking, trade conflicts and military arrangements is impressive too. The way Jay stages his assertions is of significant interest since they give the sense of having a union that will speak on behave of all people of United America.

Conclusion

In conclusion, John Jay, in his federal papers, as one of the founding fathers, laid a strong foundation in establishing the United States Union that has seen the nation overcoming the dangers of foreign influence and a peaceful nation. The country has achieved progress in solving international conflicts, trade, military and harmonious society through the good works of John Jay and the other founding fathers.
