I have heard stories of people from the Ancient past, who crossed the gigantic Himalayan Mountains by feet, coming to study in then famous universities. I used to wonder what kind of thirst is that, which can motivate a human being to such extent that makes him cross his physical limits. A decade later, I realized that it was the thirst to have the best education. I grew up in a small town in southern part of Nepal, observing an area that refuses to grow along. This place has been poverty struck for so long that the people have become habituated with it. Nonetheless, with time, few remarkable people have stood up, to change things and the solution they found was in development of business and industry. Thus, I planned to play a small part in the process by providing an impeccable management service, which is crucial for any industry to succeed. Going with this mindset of mine, I feel that your world-class University is the perfect place, where I can expand my knowledge through the learning provided in the best possible way.

During my school days, observing my curiosity, one of my teachers suggested a self-help book on business and management by Napoleon Hill. It inspired me further and strengthened my will to pursue my ambition without fear. Thus, I chose commerce for higher studies as it occurred to me that a course like this would put me on the path, which would help me achieve my ultimate goal in life. It was this dedication towards my goal that helped me accomplish a distinctive score of 86% in 12th, which then helped me get into the best university in India for a Bachelor in Commerce, The University of Delhi.

I shifted to the capital of India to study my Bachelors. I got admission in one of the famous north campus colleges in Delhi University. Attributed to the extensive experience of faculty and the overall sophistication of the program, I received an exceptionally valuable learning experience. The course was explicitly focused on subjects such as Accounting, Business and Management wherein I learned the way to record financial transactions of various natures, from simple firm and partnership accounting to complex company accounting, business laws practiced in Indian market, cash flow management, share market operations and fundamental & technical analysis of market etc.

During my graduation, I got more interested in share market and trading, thus, I joined a private institute to enhance my knowledge and skills by learning Fundamental & Technical Analysis. During this period, I also participated in an event, related to stock markets, conducted by S.R.C.C (Delhi University), called Inter College Stock Sentinel Competition. To everyone’s surprise in my batch, our team, which included a friend and me, won the 1st prize in that event. It boosted my confidence so much that, I began to trade in the futures of the commodities market with for a while to test and improve my skills. In the final semester of my graduation, I met a tragic accident, disabling me to walk, for the rest of the year. Nonetheless, I gave my final exam, using a wheelchair, and I was able to score 70% in that particular semester and overall, I scored around 60%.

I took a break of 6 months to recover, following which I returned back to Delhi, looking for opportunities to develop my career ahead. It was during this period when I first heard about Data Science. The Harvard University had praised it as “The Sexiest Job of the 21st Century”. I found it as an opportunity and enrolled myself into one of the best institutes, providing data science certification. As a part of course module, I got the opportunity to learn applied statistics, which is the foundation of data science, and to work upon several projects and assignments, which were designed according to real-world business scenarios, I worked on 4 major projects, using a range of Software tools such as Excel, SQL, Tableau, SAS and R. Projects were related to Predicting Employee churn for a company, using Regression Technique, categorizing customers according to their spending habits, using K-means Cluster Analysis Technique, for a Telecom company. I completed the certification successfully with the help & guidance of teachers, who were highly qualified professionals, and had several years of work experience.

My academic qualification and data science certification built a strong foundation and I have acquired considerable knowledge but, my desire to learn more wasn’t satiated. I realized that my dream to provide impeccable management service wouldn’t come true until I get a full-time education specifically focused on management. Hence, I desire to pursue MSc Management at your prestigious university in the UK.

The UK stands at the highest pedestal as a high-quality education provider and boasts of accommodating world-ranking universities with impeccable infrastructure offering industry-informed courses and cutting-edge research excellence. Master’s in Management at your university will develop my knowledge and competency in analytical and practical tools to analyse the issues of business operations and strategic management in the context of globalisation. Moving ahead with my pursuit, in the academic course at your university, I propose the following objectives. Firstly, the course would help me, to develop the managerial and leadership skills, which would help me to run an enterprise successfully in future. Secondly, I intend to apply those theories into practice in an organisational setting, and finally, I would be blessed to gain an international exposure, which would be a great thing to have in this era of globalisation. I would like to utilize the knowledge and experience gained to give something back to my country and society. Like many developing countries, Nepal desperately needs capital investment and industrial growth to prosper and rise. And I, positively intend to be the impetus that would help it achieve the desired.
