Does Gods Exist
God exists. Both traditional and Christian beliefs and values can attest to this. Both lay their originality to have been the work of the mighty creator, God. Philosophy helps people to understand why a particular phenomenon exists. They provide theories and experiments to test this fact. In chapter six, it expounds on the problem of evil and argues about the existence of God. It describes three major areas; on the universe: God as a creator, the meaning of faith, and when bad things happen to people who are good, it particularly articulates God as a trouble maker (Schick and Vaughn). Thought experiments are devices that are used to help in imagination. They are used to educate, explore, and in the analysis of concepts.
In chapter six, the most convincing phenomenon on the existence of God is based on faith. It is believing in something that cannot be seen or touched. Traditionally faith is a reasonable justification for religious belief. Leap of faith is something that is done by everyone who denounces the ways of the world to follow Christ. This is when people believe in God, who they cannot see nor touch. They have a positive will to believe in him. This context of faith can be proven from a Christian point of view through people who had hardships and did not turn away from God. They believed that despite everything they are going through, in the end, they would receive abundant blessings from the Most High.
The movie Breakthrough that was produced in 2019 highlights the importance of faith in one’s life — believing in something that is unseen (Dawson). Joyce and her husband Brian have been raising their son, John, who they adopted on a mission trip in Guatemala. A tragic moment occurs when John falls into a frozen lake in Missouri. John is trapped into the water for more than fifteen minutes.
When the rescuers come to save him from the water, they find out that John has no pulse and showed no sign of life. After repeated trials to help him revive, John does not respond. The doctors pronounced him dead. Joyce says a prayer, and immediately John’s heart starts having a beat. He is rushed to the hospital; the doctors believe that he does not have much chance to live. Joyce, on the other hand, tells them to do their best and let God take care of the rest.
John beats the odds of survival in the long run through faith displayed by her prayerful mother. Joyce is seen scolding the doctors, friends, and parents who think that her son has very slim chances of survival. Despite medical and human reasoning, John can survive. Her mother’s faith proves wrong the doctors who claimed he had minimal chances of survival. Brian who did not know how to deal with the tragedy and the parents and friends who believed that John would pass on eventually.
