Sensing Experiment

  • Introduction:

By using all the senses, the bodily sensations are observed with the relationship between the sciences, the art, natural processes, the body, and sensorial perception. This can be a science visualizing scientific touch; it can be art because of aesthetic qualities. The medium of observation is the environment, so it is a natural process. The human body plays an integral part in exciting the imagination by aesthetic experience in all sorts of activities. For sharing the embodied experience, some observations are discussed for the transformative role of bodily experience.

Sighting, Tasting, touching, hearing, sighting and smelling are our five senses that collect information from the environment.  And then our brain interpreted all that information. We respond instantly to sensory information because we make decisions based on previous experiences. That response is the combination of all the senses and is import in our environment. Before going to the assigned task, let us have a review of the topic. Modern life is limiting and preventing the human body from exposure to sensorial varieties like dark and bright or easy or hard. The prominence of contemporary life is lacks of the various sensual experiences. For the consciousness of consciously perceiving the world and one’s body, they are necessary. During the development of the nervous system of children experiencing all the varieties of sensorial are very crucial to develop the full capacity of sensory organs.

  • At Morning:

At morning: Sunrise at 7:20 AM, About 1 min after feeling the subway shaking underneath, people start coming out from the subway station which locates nearby. It feels very lonely even in the busiest part of the city. How the selection of time can change the feelings and emotions of the same place during different time zones. According to Henri Bergson from the book Grosz Elizabeth, the connection between people seems to become invisible. A special bond can be felt between your soul and body. It feels like your soul is talking to you. It seems the spirit of the airman is nobody cares. During working hours, personal freedom is highly restricted. One can feel the fresh air whispering to you. It is a fantastic feeling, and the body feels so relaxed. It takes all the worries away. As soon as time passes, the more crowds start pouring out, and all those unique feelings fade away. It is a reality that early morning time makes a person so much comfortable as there is no hustle during that time. Trees are our guideposts in the woods. Walking along the trail, tapping tree roots with our canes, we stop and feel where a Pileated Woodpecker pounded into a tree trunk looking for insects. On another tree trunk, inquisitive fingertips tell us an insect planned to reproduce by using it as an incubator. The tree fought back by growing a protective gall around the area and radically changed those plans. That whisper-soft thump is an acorn let loose by an oak. The feel of peeling, paper-like bark makes us know we are standing beside a white birch. If one of my companions picks up a leaf, its toothy edges reveal it comes from American elm. The balsam firs guide us to a nearby picnic pavilion.

  • At Noon:

At Noon: 12:30 AM, Sunshine directly to Road Park. Afternoon sunshine makes a relaxing lazy mood. Some sparrows stop under the sun. Air smelling a little Smokey, the atmosphere does not give the fresh and bright feeling any more. Make me a little worry about the environment change. Nature is someone that creates us and can wipe us out from the root. So it is essential to sense the nature and feel its importance during every time of the day. If we compare the morning time with afternoon, we encounter a vast difference. I was amazed at how a place that was so soothing and calm can change into a site that is now so annoying and crowded. The freshness in the air has gone. Now it feels like there is so much dirt in it. The connection to the things seems to be lost. I felt ashamed while looking at the trees. They were silent as they were not pleased with the quality of the air they were encountered during that time. The trees were so happy during the morning that they were moving joyously. Now, look at them as they are dying inside and cursing the humans for that much pollution. The connection between things seems to be lost. It looks like Nature is afraid of humans, and it is very crowded at that time. Ducks can be seen moving around in the park that is right in front. I can see heaps of garbage at places. Though it is cleaned daily, during the morning it was spotless, and everything was looking beautiful and full of  Nature but now looking at this place makes me feel so uncomfortable. Air quality has dropped so much. You can’t handle the freshness in the air. One thing that I noticed is that there is an electric distribution box placed right in the middle of the road, it is so noisy that it starts irritating if you stay there for long enough. These things can affect Nature too. Little animals and birds like dogs, cats and many others can also be affected by the noise out there. Everyone is busy in their phones; no one is there to notice the small things that nature can offer to them. It makes me feel very disappointed that we, as human, are ruining our Nature ourselves. We are destroying trees, and as a result, we are getting more and more pollution by doing this. Standing there, I noticed cars and buses, leaving so much smoke. Probably they are not even aware of the consequences that we might feel in the future. Afternoon time is disconcerting for me as I feel so ashamed of the fact that we are ruining our Nature.

  • At night:

At night 6:30 PM, The city starts slowing down and turns to a quiet mode. It is winter here, and everything starts closing down. Nearly half of the population of this city has gone to their houses. The town looks quiet and mesmerizing. Sidewalks are empty, and a chilling sense of cold can be felt. Trees are soft, and it looks like they are sleeping too. The office building has turned off their lights. Sitting on a bench alone, I feel an attached to the environment. Chilling cold gives a unique sense of feeling. It is fantastic; I love the cooling effect of the night. I see that still a lot of lights are turned on, those are the shops, bars and cinema halls that remain open late night. The distribution box feels less noisy as the load of the electricity has dropped a lot. The air has started giving a new sense. This is majorly due to the drop in the traffic and closing of the industries during the night. I see no homeless people on the sidewalks as they have found another less cold place for them. While sitting on the bench, I can almost feel the subway wheel roaring and scratching on the rail. The sky, the tree, the animal, gives us a delight in and for themselves. These things are also affected by the change in weather and the change in time, like morning, afternoon and night. Most often, it seems to me, we find these things to be beautiful not because of something else they might bring us – a piece of furniture, say, or a ‘delicacy’ to be consumed – but because of the way that the forms of these things immediately strike us upon observation. In fact, one might even think that this experience of beauty is one of the bases for valuing Nature – nature is valuable because it is beautiful. The inhabitants of the city suppose that the town is pleasant only half the year. As discussed in Catalyst by Natasha Myers to the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its beauty, and in the same field it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again. At night I went out into the dark and saw a glimmering star and heard a frog, and Nature seemed to say, well do not these suffice?  Here is a new scene, a unique experience.  Ponder it, and not like the foolish world, hanker after thunders and multitudes and vast landscapes, the sea or Niagara. Nothing is quite beautiful alone:  nothing but is fair in the whole. These are the things that matter a lot. The night is fantastic in its own experience. No one can match the beauty that the night brings with itself. I sat there on the bench alone like an hour and then started walking to home wandering that being a human what we have done to our beautiful Nature. Nature is beautiful and merciful, but the human is not.
