Anthony Hyde is the writer of the Novel Red Fox, and he is a famous writer. The novel got published in the year 1985. He was born in Ottawa, Canada, in the year 1946. His background lines with his career where his father was not only a Canadian artist but also a famous film-maker. He exhibited strong leadership in the Canadian new left in the 1960s. He got actively involved in student union groups that advocated for peace. The red fox, therefore, presented a spy novel that was widely accepted by multiple countries. Consequently, the book gave themes confined between military and science as it was evident in the Nazi and cold war era. This paper presents the theme of new revolution and conflict in Red fox and compares them to a kite is a victim poem and a fine balance novel as pertain to the Canadian literature work.

The theme of a new revolution is evident from the red fox novel. Anthony Hyde came up with his work as a through back to the cold war. The book, therefore, encompasses an international mystery that curbed the ordinary citizens. The theme gets portrayed using tantalizing messages that indicate hopelessness. The signal used vividly depicts that people needed a change from the compromised authority. “I needed to understand that the authority concealed information, and no one needed to speak the truth” (Anthony 45). Canadians once had hoped with their local leaders, but they went silent upon their election. The novel gets set in the cemetery, and from this, we can contemplate on the theme highlighted.

Numerous individuals had lost their lives, and their bodies buried in Pennsylvania. Robert Thorne lost his father in a mysterious killing. Nevertheless, it gets believed that his father killed himself. The pressures created by the harsh ruling made people hopeless and hence, though they had nothing that inspired them to live. Besides this drives us to the theme of hopelessness. Residents never saw the importance of living. Therefore as the title suggests, the red fox presents a fearless and harmful image that compromised peoples’ lives. Consequently, this theme gets directly connected to the conflict presented by Anthony Hyde.

The conflict in the novel is that people are struggling to find where their loved ones are vanishing. Thorne received a telegram from his ex-girlfriend, May Brightman. Her father disappeared mysteriously without anyone’s knowledge. Consequently, this death worried both Thorne and May and could not comprehend whatever was happening. Brightman’s father’s mystery got reminiscent of the demise of Thorne’s father. He, too, worked for the authority just like Thorne’s father. The two thought that the administration was blackmailing people when they tried to utter any truth against them. This Russian menace got connected to the trails of adoptions, as exhibited in the purges once witnessed in Starlin.

“The truth is that ruthless men in the government are concealing their true identity” (pg. 73). The conflicts make numerous people pursue a thrilling fortune. The authority has made people hide shameful secrets that disrupt their own identity. Thorne gets led to the complicated frozen soviet wastes. Life in Russia is not welcoming, and people need a change. Therefore Anthony Hyde clearly understands the challenge people face in Russia that accrues for the Russian group. Thus the reminiscent mysteries leave people shocked and wonder what will get issued for the coming generation. Thus Anthony presented this revolution theme and conflict from various destinations. It takes us through America, Russia, Canada, and Paris. Therefore the conflict connects to the theme where people need a new revolution.

Cohen presents the theme of displacement in A Kite is a Victim piece of writing. It is a poem by Leonard Cohen and displays a critical message concealed through symbols and images. Besides, the poem presents the theme of displacement that significantly defines the fate of people. The theme of displacement occurs where people tend not to discover their strengths and identity. The kite, therefore, presents a victim of circumstances who fails to comprehend the quality of life. “Although happiness is in the world, we must also be victims of tragedies” (Stanza 2). Therefore he is displaced from the actual world and what is whirling around. There exist various ups and downs, and this can get equated to a kite controlled by the wind.

Personification and metaphor dramatically contribute to the strength of the theme. The victim is a human quality that relates to the kite. Cohen argues that the kite experience not only happiness but also sadness moments. We usually associate this with living creatures but not objects. “The kit is gentle and can address you as a master” (Stanza 1). The poet, therefore, shows that the kite can sometimes be gentle and relaxed. Similarly, it possesses the ability to determine your fate. Consequently, the symbols of a kite and personifications employed indicate the spectrums of not only strength but also emotions. People get succumbed by many affairs in their lives. Thus they get displaced from what is happening around them due to the controlling factor.

A fine balance novel by Rohinton Mistry dramatically contributes to the work of Anthony Hyde. Rohinton wrote the book from 1975 to 1984, where the turmoil of emergency presided in India. The story revolves around civil liberties and how power cracked down and greatly affected the citizens. The crisis caught people unaware and considerably changed their healthy living. The state of hopelessness and anxiety to get back to normality succumbed to the residents. Therefore the theme of alienation is evident, and people can feel the crackdown in the ruling government. People cheated in elections and acquired thrones using their powers. Thus residents felt alienated and displaced from the ordinary world.

The crackdown of civil liberty thus presents the main message in the novel. Not only had the banning of processions but also people denied the right to hold public meetings. Misuse of power became the only option to threaten opposing people. “We cannot thrive in a country that does not allow public opinions” (Rohinton 48). If a person tried to complain against the drawbacks in leadership, he or she got thrown to jail and faced severe sentencing. Therefore, people felt that the country had transitioned, and there lacked the bond between government and citizens. Besides, some people even were compelled to leave the country and went for exiles after being threatened. Thus, people got affected by the emergency, and they were displaced and alienated from the government.

In conclusion, the three pieces of writing depict the fate of human beings against poor leadership. Red fox thus describes how the cold war affected people and yearned for a transition. From the complexity of the words employed, we can see that people almost succumbed to the cold war and thus wanted a transformation. The poem by Cohen presents a displacement theme that indicates individuals’ struggle to identify their fate and strength. It depicts the sorrows that people go through in attempts to simplify their lives. Rohinton’s work also contributes to the miseries that people face under compromised leadership. Therefore, Canadian work significantly adds to the human understanding of the drawbacks whirling their lives.
