Gauze and Effect Organization
Respected Sir,
I am writing this email to guide you about my analysis and recommendation as a member of administration team of Gauze and Effect Organisation that I have studied the company Cambridge Analytica, that showing interest to do partnership with our organization, I have studied the company in detail like I have to go through about all the scandals, work process, work management skills, team leadership and abilities, reputation in market, core values and morals so that I can make a strong recommendation whether to make partnership or not because I strongly believe that a company is judged by its customer services, its values, and ethical principles, its reputation among people, its public and human relations management, etc., (Common, 2018).
Here I think that we do not accept the offer of partnership with Cambridge Analytica as they have recently faced a potential scandal based on the misuse and mishandling of personal information and data of Facebook users they illegally gained the personal data and used it for the purpose to influence people in the presidential elections of Donald Trump, (Common, 2018). They didn’t ask for the permission from Facebook or from any other legal authority, for this, they are facing strong reaction of the US government, and people have strong issues with them though they have asked to delete the data; still, they have lost their position in the market, and their values, ethical morals, management, and principles are at stake. In such conditions, I don’t think it’s the right time to make a partnership with them. Facebook also paid a heavy fine in regard to this error that took place and recently Facebook has changed its privacy settings to make-believe believe that this mistake will not take place in the future now because its Facebook’s responsibility to secure users’ personal information, (Derry & Green, 1989).
I strongly believe that they should ask permission from Facebook or from Facebook users through making an app or public poll. The biggest disadvantage that both these stakeholders faced was they lost their ethical position, and people held them accountable for this mishap (Tuttle, 2018). And the advantage was that in the near future this issue will not take place ever again because Cambridge Analytica suffered the downfall and Facebook has changed their privacy settings and ensured that this problem will not disturb the users again. Here in making this decision more easy, the Gauze and Effect have used the main ethical theories related to business ethical principles and social, ethical principles that include; integrity, loyalty, justice, accountability, trustworthiness, fairness, law-abiding, respect for all, reputation and morale, etc. Moreover, to make the decision more clear related to the facts here, I have used The Character-Based Theory so that all the stakeholders can analyze each and every aspect of the situation and can make the right decision, (Tuttle, 2018). Our organization extravagantly believe in honesty, respect, equality, justice, integrity, ethical values, norms, right management, best human relations work proper functionality and humanity so that’s why I believe that to ensure our policies and ethical principles we should not make a partnership with companies who are suffering because of their ethical errors, (Derry & Green, 1989).
