Biopsychosocial Population Health Policy Proposal
Policy and guidance proposal that will lead to improving the outcome and the quality of care for elderly hypertension patients
The World Health Organization, in its annual report, recently announced hypertension as a common disease among the elderly (Pickering et al., 2018). The condition being a common disease is important for the health care industry to have a regular checkup that can be free to monitor patients. The checkup should be conducted to any patients who visit the organization with or without hypertension symptoms. This will help the industry to control the disease from getting to a critical state. Also, the health care industry needs to have a regular community checkup this will help those people who do not like to visit the hospital, so monitor their health. Patients who should be concentrated on are the middle age and the older as this condition has been noted to be common among them.
Hypertension being known caused by unhealthy living, it is also important the health care industry to encourage patients to eat healthy food and also have regular exercise as it will help people to have a healthy life, which will prevent them from diseases like hypertension (Blair et al., 2014). Patients can be encouraged to eat fruits; this can be done practically; the patients who visit can be given fruits after their visit and advised to eat more to bust their immune.
The need for policies
For any organization to make a change, policies are vital (Malik et al., 2014). The policies and practices will help health organizations demonstrate the need for staying healthy. For example, checks are part of treatments, but doing it regularly will help patients to know their health status, and this will help the providers to deliver quality care. Early treatment can be effective than when done while the condition has advanced. Patients also need to be advised to stay healthy as this will help to achieve the patient outcome. The right lifestyle will help patients to prevent diseases, and this will help the communities to control diseases and promote health. Lastly, the policies will help to improve care delivery; when patients, for example, get checked, and they are found to have hypertension, and it is at the early stage. Patients will be advised on what they can do to manage the condition before it gets to the worse state.
The interprofessional approach to implementing a proposed policy to increase the effectiveness of the care setting to achieve high-quality outcomes
The proposed policies stated that healthcare providers to make regular checkups to help them monitor the health of patients (Pickering et al., 2018). To make the check-up effective, nurses need to ensure that all patients who visit the organization get checked up. Check up will improve a lot the care effectiveness as patients will be known when the condition sticks them, thus get treatment immediately, and this will help most patients to manage the condition before it gets to a critical state. Organization marketers also need to create awareness on the effective way of preventing diseases. From the proposed policy, healthy living is one of the best ways of preventing diseases. The marketing team should encourage the community to eat healthy food and also do regular exercise as this will help them prevent conditions like hypertension.
