Apple Limited Marketing Strategies
Introduction
Apple is known as a well-developed technology company that deals design, manufacturing, and marketing of electronic devices used in the world today. It is considered one of the largest electronics brands despite having a minimal chance during its first years. The company sells its products over the whole world has more than 250 retailers worldwide.
History of Apple Company.
The company was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976. The name Apple is known to have been brought up by Jobs. Come to think of it; it might have been because he had been working in the orchards in Oregon where apples were being grown. That aside, the name begins with the alphabet A. This occurred as a suitable name to encourage them to work towards the Apple company being among the worlds’ leading companies (Rawlinson, 2017). The Apple design for Apple’s logo has several suggestions as to how or where from the logo came to be. It could be a representation of the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden in the Old Testament due to the presence of the bite taken out of Apple. On the other hand, according to the designer who made the logo, Rob Janoff, the Apple logo with a chunk taken out of it is a nod at computer scientist Alan Turing who is known to have committed suicide after eating cyanide infused apple. Job Janoff sees Alans’ connection to this as an incredible urban legend.
The first product was released on April 1, 1976. Unlike other computers of that time, it was a desktop computer that was presented as a single motherboard and was preassembled. It was termed as the Apple 1. After a year or so, it was upgraded to include an integrated keyboard and case. Alongside were expansion slots for attaching floppy disk drives. This upgraded machine was the Appl II. A year before IBM released the IBM Personal Computer, the Apple III was released. This was in 1980.
The reason why I chose to write about the Apple Company is that Apple has greatly differentiated itself from the other companies through smart marketing skills, effective distribution methods, fashionable design, and ease of use of its products. Other than that, it the very first companies to hit $1trillion value, making it the world wealthiest company.
Products and services of Apple
The Apple Company deals in several products such as;
MACINTOSH: It was introduced in 1984. It is a platform of desktop computers that mainly target the educational, home, and professional markets.
iPod: It was first launched in 2001 as a line of portable digital music players.
iPhone: It is a mark that shows Apples’ beginning into the rapidly growing smartphone network. This was in 2007 when it was first released.
Marketing Strategy
Market strategy is deployed in a company to facilitate interaction with its consumers. Market strategy is also put in place to encourage customers o consume ones’ company products by informing the consumers of the specifications, features, and benefits of a company’s products. (Doyle, 2013)
Interactive Marketing Strategy: This type promotes excellent participation between the marketing campaign and the customer. This type of strategy allows room for feedback on a particular product. (Shaw, 2002)
Digital Marketing Strategy: As the name suggests, it takes place on a digital platform. This type of marketing could be easily considered as a “push/ pull” technique. The “push” technique allows the company to get in touch with its consumers and encourage them to buy its’ services and products. On the other hand, the “pull” part takes place when the customers are the ones now taking the initiative to find the location of the business online via the digital marketing platforms.
Internet or Online Marketing: This technique allows the company to carry out research, get to the clients, and also be able to sell products and services to the customers found online, via the internet.
Apple product, the Macs, is ranked the best personal computers in the world, together with OS X, iPod, and iTunes. Apple company employs the following marketing strategies that enabled it to make a huge step.
Digital marketing strategies with Superior technology products. MacBook and IWatch considered the leaders in the market space due to the superior operating system and design. Apple’s brand advertisement is also such common in newspapers and all over the internet.
The company also employs an interactive marketing strategy with more than 450 stores in the United States (Faisal, 2016). The stores are focused on assisting the customer in familiarizing themselves with apple products. It also has trading partners such as the Ingram Micro to assist in sales and distribution.
In my opinion, I think apple should be focused on adopting more competitive strategies to ensure that their market is not compromised with other products such as Samsung and other Android-based phones.
Conclusion
Apple is considered one of the most successful companies with its superior products and the right strategies that have enabled it to establish itself in the world market. The apple company, however, faces competition from other products offering the same services. The company should, therefore, focus more on competitive strategies to see it remain in the market.
